Chris Raabe wins the Modified feature at Cornwall Motor Speedway!




Cornwall, Ont – Sunday, June 17, 2018 – Martin Bélanger – A special night at Cornwall Motor Speedway with the first of two visits for the Lightning Sprints along with the 4th edition of the Danny Lefebvre Memorial in the Mini-Stock. A full program is also on the schedule presented by Pioneer Hi-Bred.

In the 30-lap Polar Sound DJ Services Modified feature, Chris Raabe pulled away on the initial start in front of Marc Therrien and Kevin Hamel. While Raabe led the way, Hamel passed Therrien on the 4th lap as Therrien faded in the field with Lee Ladouceur in third with 8 laps completed. On a lap 9 restart, Raabe kept the lead with Ladouceur and J-F Corriveau in third. Raabe dominated the event to capture his first feature of the season over Lee Ladouceur and J-F Corriveau.

Rock Aubin led the way in the 25-lap Alexandria Home Hardware Pro-Stock with Jocelyn Chicoine and Jeffrey Lapalme in third. Aubin survived a few cautions in the first portion of the feature as Lapalme was running strong in second with Marc Lalonde in third by lap 10. Aubin resisted to late charges of Lapalme to claim his first feature of the season in the division.

Junior Delormier was the early lead in the 25-lap Next Level Home Improvement. A lap 4 restart gave the lead to Ryan Stabler powering by Delormier as Brianna Ladouceur was running in second. Stabler was leading the way as Tristan Draper was strong on the top lane and passed Ladouceur for second and set sights on the lead with less than 10 to go. Stabler led the final laps to win his first feature since June 2016 at the speedway.

Yanik Poirier dominated the 25-lap Lightning Sprints feature surviving lap cars and the feature went on caution less over Stephane St-Laurent and Eric Sundborg.

The Danny Lefebvre Memorial 25-lap event saw Alexis Charbonneau leading the field of 14 cars to the green, Charbonneau was strong as Karl Potvin making his way to the front as he was able to take the lead over Charbonneau on lap 7. The first 16 laps were run on green conditions. Potvin retained the lead until the end finishing in first in front of his brother Yanik and Alexis Charbonneau. Post-race inspection deemed Karl Potvin light on the scale giving the win to his brother Yanik.

We start a string of special events at the speedway with the 2nd leg of the Draper Doors Canadian Nationals Modified Series next Sunday and the annual visit of the Super DIRTcar Big Block Series on July 1st.
