TIM McCREADIE ENDS REGULAR SEASON WITH THRILLING FEATURE VICTORY

BREWERTON, NY…Tim McCreadie ended the 2002 regular season in style at Brewerton Speedway last Friday night. McCreadie claimed the win in the 35-lap DIRT Big Block Modified feature and earned a spot in the Fulton Speedway Victoria 200 Weekend All Star Race. The victory for the second-generation driver from Watertown, N.Y. in the Finch’s Logging DIRT Modified was worth $1,700.

Chuck Bower raced out to the early lead at the start of the 35-lap DIRT Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. Bower was looking for his second straight win at the D-shaped DIRT Demon and after five circuits he was being followed by Tim Fuller, Tim McCreadie, Steve Hulsizer and Scott Prentice. Bower would lead the opening six laps of the main event.

Fuller took the lead away from Bower on lap seven. At the halfway point Fuller continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by Bower, Tim McCreadie, Scott Prentice and Gordy Button. Jimmy Phelps, Roger Phelps, Steve Hulsizer, Jim Mahaney and Bob Holland raced in positions sixth through tenth at that point.

Tim McCreadie moved into second place on lap 21 and quickly closed in on Fuller. Fans were treated to a great battle between the two young DIRT Motorsports stars. McCreadie was finally able to take the top spot away from Fuller when receiving the white flag. McCreadie held on to the top spot during the final circuit and claimed the win.

Fuller had to settle for second with Bower, Scott Prentice, Jimmy Phelps and Steve Hulsizer completing the top six feature finishers. John Barker came charging through the field after an early race pit stop to finish seventh. Barker was the highest finishing 358 Modified and also earned a Fulton Speedway Victoria 200 Weekend All Star spot. Button, Roger Phelps and Mike Prentice completed the top ten finishers.

Bill Anderson Sr. claimed his first ever IMCA Modified feature victory last Friday night in thrilling fashion. Anderson passed Pat Pontello on the final circuit to earn the win in the 20-lap affair. Pontello had to settle for second with Billy Dunn, Bill Anderson Jr. and Bob Thurston Jr. completing the top five feature finishers.

Dan Boyce was the winner of the 35-lap Dwarf Car Championship race. Tim Burdick, Tod Simons, Joe Garafolo and Scott Nash completed the top five feature finishers behind Boyce. Boyce took the top spot away from Burdick on lap 20 and led the rest of the distance.

Brian Evenden won his first Four Cylinder Stock feature of the season last Friday night. Chris Smith, Roger West, Jeremy Bargabos and John West followed Evenden across the finish line. Evenden took the lead away from Jeff Herbert on lap 10 and led the rest of the distance in the 15-lap event.

Chad Guthrie was the winner of the Four Cylinder Enduro last Friday night. Rich Gardner, Sam Carista, Rodney Weaver and R.J. Hoag completed the top five finishers behind Guthrie.

The next event at Brewerton Speedway will be on Saturday, September 28. In action will be the Super DIRT Sportsman Series plus the Dwarf Cars, Four Cylinder Stocks, Pure Stocks and a Four Cylinder Enduro. Track gates will open at 5 p.m. and action will start at 7 p.m.

The 2002 season at Brewerton Speedway will conclude on Thursday, October 10. The night will feature the Turning Stone Casino 358 Modified Super DIRT Series in a 100 lap special paying $4,000 to win. The Dwarf Cars will also be in action. Gates will open at 4:30 p.m. with race action set to start at 7:30 p.m.
