Hendrickson Hops to Number Two Friday Night at Bridgeport




BRIDGEPORT, NJ (August 13, 2005)- Lawrenceville, NJ's Wade Hendrickson bested a top-notch field of Small Block Modifieds, Friday Night, as Napa Auto Parts presented a six-division card, at the Bridgeport Speedway.

Tommy Beamer's Milano Pizza/Dirt Wheels Race Cars #31 led the early stages of the twenty-five lap feature event pulling away from his front row starting position and gaining a sizable advantage over, second place runner, Hendrickson. A lap 10 restart gave Hendrickson's Atlantic Wood Floors #2w Teo Pro Car the opportunity to dethrone Beamer from the top spot. It was "The Flyin' Farmer" from there on out, holding off Billy "The Kid" Pauch and a host of hot shoes, to pick up his second victory of the season. Pauch came home second, GR Smith finished third-after making a pit stop half way, Jimmy Horton was fourth and Richie Pratt Jr. rounded out the top five.

Torrey Rose of Hilltown, PA picked up his second victory of the season in the 309 Auto Sales #309 ride, as the ultra-fast Jasper Sprint Car Series invaded the Speedway. Rose held off second place finisher Andrew Weldon, who boasted the fastest lap time at an average speed of 111 miles per hour, but didn't have enough to top Rose. Following Rose and Weldon at the checkered were Keith Anderson, Shane Smith and current point leader, Jim Wyers.

John Micek overtook early leader Chuck Buchman, and went on to pick up the victory in the GM Crate Sportsman Feature event. Buchman would settle for second, Chuck Hopkins came home in third with Mike Fattori and John Bangs rounding out the top five.

Sam Casella picked up his first victory of the season in the 600cc Micro Sprint division. Casella dominated the event overtaking the lead on lap five and never looking back. Bill Thomas had another impressive top five finish coming across in second, with Chuck Sherby in third, Rick Stief in fourth and Davey Sammons picking up his first Bridgeport top five.

Jimmy Cammock grabbed his first feature victory of the season getting past early leader Jesse Hartman on the 15th circuit of the event. Hartman would settle for second with Steve Gasapari, Jessica Lindmeier and Jay Hartman rounding out the top five.

Jim Hughes won his second feature event in a row in the 4 Cylinder Stock event. Hughes grabbed the top spot on the with eight laps to go and held off Jeff Walls for the victory. Mike Hughes came home third with Dave Bentley, Jr. in fourth and Warren Stradley rounding out the top five.

Saturday, August 13 - Napa Auto Parts presents Trucker Night-All truckers that provide their CDL at the window will get free grandstand admission. The Modifieds headline the four division card with a 25 lap feature event. The Sportsman division doubles up for a regular feature event and a make up race. The Outlaw Stocks and All-Star Trucks will also be in competition with full qualifying races and exciting feature events. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, $5 for kids, and, as always, 5 and under are free.

Tuesday, August 16 -- The Walt Chernokal Memorial presented by Hoffman Bros. Speed and Performance. The Bridgeport Bad Boys challenge local drivers to step up to the plate and see if they have the guts to take on the famed five-eighth mile speedway. The Modifieds will compete in a 40 lap-$4000 to win feature event with the Sportsman holding a 25 lap - $1000 to win special. Competitors will draw for positions and compete in full qualifying heat races. Any 13 x 92 Modified track tire will be allowed for competition and no pit license is required for admittance.

Friday, August 19- Our Regular Friday Night Program features a full five-division card headlined by the 358 DIRT Modifieds, also in action on the 5/8th track will be the GM Crate Sportsman. In ΒΌ Mile action -- the 600cc Micro Sprints, along with the 270cc Micro Sprints and 4 Cylinder Stocks. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, $5 for kids, and, as always, 5 and under are free. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. with the first Green Flag flying at 7:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 20 - The Winged Warriors of the Jasper Sprint Car Series roll into the Bridgeport Speedway to try to tame the famed five-eighth. The Big Block Modified Bridgeport Bad Boys compete in a 25 lap feature event and the Sportsman and Outlaw Stocks will be in competition with full qualifying races and exciting feature events. Admission is $15 for adults, $10 for students, $5 for kids, and, as always, 5 and under are free.
