Hendrickson the Headliner Friday Night at Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, NJ (May 13, 2005) – Lawrenceville, NJ’s Wade Hendrickson was “top dog” Friday night at the Bridgeport Speedway, as he dominated the 25 lap 358 Modified feature event.

“We had to take advantage of a great starting position, and we did,” an elated Hendrickson stated in Victory Lane. “When I saw Jimmy (Horton) I knew we might be in trouble. This is a great win for this whole team.”

Hendrickson took full advantage of his fourth place starting position and powered past Mike Franz and Stan Frankenfield Jr. grabbing the lead on the third time around the 5/8th mile with Ryan Godown and Jimmy Horton following in hot pursuit. A lap 6 restart gave Horton the opportunity to move past Godown and challenge Hendrickson for the top spot. “The Flying Farmer” would have none of that, he brushed off Horton and headed straight to Victory Lane crossing the line with no one else in sight. Horton settled for the runner-up spot for the third week in a row with Tommy Beamer, Richie Pratt and Ryan Godown rounding out the top 5.

Eric Kormann went two-for-two in his appearances in the GM Crate Sportsman class, as he took Rick Kostes’ #12 to Victory Lane for the second week in a row. Kormann, who started dead last in the field, grabbed the lead on the fifth lap and never looked back. Mike Fattori, Chuck Buchman, Forrest Peters and John Bangs wrapped up the top five finishers.

Hamilton, NJ’s Phil Meisner Jr. rebounded from an early race incident, that dropped him back to twelfth place, to pick up the win in the 600cc Micro Sprint Feature. Ronnie Tobias came home second, Glenn Heverin, Stewart Carmichael and Gary Hunter rounding out the top five.

Shaun Ratchford grabbed the win of the 270cc Micro Sprint Feature with Chuck Palmucci, Jim Wyers, John Blanda and Jay Hartman at the line.

It was a “Battle of the Bentley’s” as Dave Sr. and Dave Jr. picked up the top two spots of the 4 Cylinder Stock feature event. Bill McNeir, Jim Hughes, and Warren Stradley finished in the top five.
