Jimmy Horton Returns for another Bridgeport Victory

Neshanic Station’s Jimmy Horton scored his sixth feature win of the year and 111th of his career at the Bridgeport Speedway Friday night. Horton, who has never had trouble getting around the big 5/8 of a mile track, found his way into the lead just before the halfway point. He then left the field in his wake to take the 25 lap main event.

Bob Sarkisian of Woolwich Twp, who won his first heat race of the year, lead from the start up until just before the halfway point, when Horton powered passed him. While Sarkisian was looking very impressive in the early going, Doug Hoffman took a big hit in his chance for a forth modified point championship at the track as he crashed on lap 3. Hoffman fell from first to third in points. Ricky ”the rocket” Elliott made a great move to pass Sarkisian on a mid race restart, but could not catch the leader. Horton, the all time win leader at Bridgeport Speedway went unchallenged the rest of the race to take the win.

Duane Howard, who is tied with Elliott in points with only one race left, finished third. Wade Hendrickson had a strong 4th place finish after demolishing his car on Sept 11th. Rick Laubach returned for the first time since his September 2nd highway crash to finish 5th.
