Tom Hager, Doug Hoffman, Sean Carman, and Scott McClaren brought home trophies at Local Union 172 night at Bridgeport Speedway this Saturday night at The Fastest Dirt Track in the East.

Tom Hager of West Easton, PA, took full advantage of a new sponsor and a new

race car this past Saturday Night at Bridgeport Speedway. In the first of

twin 20's, Hager was the class of the field, outgunning a late race charge

from "Jammin" Jamie Mills. Tom Hager started on the pole and held onto the

lead for the majority of the event. Jimmy Chester moved from 9th to 2nd

in four laps, setting the pace for his challenge on lap 10 with a move to

the outside of turn 4. He outraced Hager for only three laps as Hager

proved to have the best car, taking the lead back by lap 14 when Chester had

mechanical problems and was forced to pit. For the remaining 5 laps, Hager

kept the checkered flag in sight and crossed the finish line just inches in

front of Jamie Mills. Mills hoped for more laps but came up short as Tom

Hager scored his first win at Bridgeport Speedway since August 9,1997.

Doug Hoffman of Allentown PA, survived several cautions to claim the victory

in the second Twin-20 Modified Feature. He started eleventh, but quickly

moved up front along with Wade Hendrickson who led for the first 10 laps.

Hoffman used the outside for several laps, doing whatever he could to get

past Hendrickson. On the second restart on lap 10, Hoffman and Hendrickson

tangled after Hoffman bolted out ahead of Hendrickson to take the lead. Both

drivers recovered from the battle, as Hendrickson made a beautiful save in

going into turn 4. Lap 16 showcased a three car brawl for third between

Wade Hendrickson, Steve Durand, and Duane Howard ensued as the white flag

came out. Mike Iles came in second after battling Doug Hoffman earlier in

the race. Hoffman collected his 8th win of the 2004 Big Block Modified

Season, tightening the point standings within the Big Block Modified Series.

Sean Carman became a first time winner in the Sunoco Sportsman division,

just a few days after recording his first non-points win at Bridgeport in a

special "Non-Winner's Event" this past Thursday, September 2nd.. Carman in

his second season in the Sportsman division, called his win "A dream come

true" as he proved he has the ability to get around "The Fastest Dirt Track

in the East". Carman, hailing from Stockton NJ started 6th and took only one

lap to get to the second spot, making the most of an early-race restart.

John Britt of Milford DE, led until Carman used yet another restart to blow

by Britt, taking over the race from there on out. Lap 9 brought bad luck to

some of Bridgeport's top guns as Richie Pratt Jr, Kevin Collins, and Mark

Forte Jr were involved in front stretch pile up. Sean Carman dominated the

rest of the event followed by John Britt in second, Drew Ricco in third.

Bridgeport Speedway saw another first time winner in the Jasper Sprint

division on Saturday, September 4, 2004. Scott McClaren drove into Victory

Lane for the first time in his Sprint career at Bridgeport Speedway, holding

off Bob Rasmussen in the early laps and surviving late challenges from Jim

and John Wyers. Total domination described

McClaren's race-winning effort as he led all but 3 laps of the 20 lap event.

The battle for second heated up as the closing laps approached. Jim and

John Wyers were neck and neck for the last 5 circuits with Jim Wyers taking

second as John Wyers settled for third.

McClaren became the 10th different winner in the Jasper Sprint Division

making the points race tighter than ever.
