Jimmy Chester drives into victory lane for his 11th career feature win at Bridgeport Speedway on Saturday July 17th

Jimmy Chester of Newfield NJ, started 15th in the 25 lap Big Block Modified event, but it took him no time at all to begin his domination at the 5/8th mile clay oval. Kyle Strickler led early while Rick Laubach, who was battling for 5th, blew a tire forcing him to pit. On Lap 10, Chester took the lead from Strickler using the inside line of turn 4. Jimmy Chester kept rolling as a fierce battle for the 5th spot waged between Doug Hoffman, Ricky Elliott, and Don Barone. Elliott charged through the pack, moving up to second as Rick Laubach appeared out of nowhere, forcing his way into the top 10. Duane Howard and Ricky Elliott fought for second as Howard held on to the position in the closing circuits. The top five finishers were; Jimmy Chester, Duane Howard, Ricky Elliott, Doug Hoffman, and Rick Laubach.

John Kelly hoisted his first feature trophy in the Sunoco Sportsman Division at Bridgeport Speedway

John Kelly of Pipersville, PA earned his first trip to the winner’s circle in Saturday’s Sunoco Sportsman event at Bridgeport Speedway.
In a caution-marred event, Kelly did an excellent job of holding off several challenges for the lead. A multi-car pile up on the backstretch brought out the first of many cautions and collected many major players. Rich Stinson, Richie Pratt Jr, John Pursell, and Kevin Collins were just a few drivers who were left with mangled race cars on the very first lap of the 20 lap feature. Several other caution flags followed, but did not succeed in taking away any of the action.
Ron Roberts, of Newport DE, became a victim to the yellow flag as he passed Kelly for the lead on lap 6 and lap 9, just before another yellow was displayed, putting him back in second. The remaining laps showcased wheel to wheel racing for first place between Roberts and Kelly while a side by side battle for third involved Steve Lindale and Eric Kormann. John Kelly used the entire race track to hold onto his lead while Roberts did whatever he could to pass for the win. Kelly held on for dear life and scored his first feature win of his career. Rounding out the top five were; John Kelly, Ron Roberts, Steve Lindale, Eric Kormann, and Jim Britt.

Brian Seidel of Allentown, PA posts his 4th victory in the 2004 URC Sprint Division at Bridgeport Speedway

Brian Seidel grabbed the lead on the first lap of the 25-lap URC Sprint feature event, passing JJ Grasso out of the corner on turn 4. Mares Stellfox, who won one of the heat races, spun around on turn 1 bringing out the night’s first caution on the third lap. Seidel coasted around the oval with Sean Michael, also of Allentown PA, lurking in second place. Kramer Williamson and Trevor Lewis ran side by side fighting for the 5th spot. Seidel began pulling away as the final circuits approached. On Lap 22, another caution flag was thrown, gathering the field closer together. Sean Michael got a nice jump off the restart and gave Seidel a run for his money for the remaining laps but had nothing left for Seidel as the checkered flag waved. The top five drivers were; Brian Seidel, Sean Michael, Curt Michael, Kramer Williamson, and JJ Grasso.
