Code wins 40 lap special for Street Stocks at Brockville

BROCKVILLE-Billy Code has become famous for his overheating race car in victory lane after twenty lap features at Brockville Ontario Speedway.

The Perth driver and his car both managed to keep their cool on Friday night as the experienced Chevy Nova took the special double distance 40 lap Street Stock feature and strengthened his hold on top spot in the points standings in the process.

Code led the most of the way in a very quick and for the most part caution free affair. There was one scary moment as Jason Powers saw his 52 car erupt in flames going into the pit area. Powers got out of the car quickly and the fire was extinguished without incident. Steve Billings tried to mount a challenge on the final restart but didn't have anything for Code and his trusty Nova. Early leader Charles Barkley was a strong third in front of Dion Oakes and Shane Ray.

Danny O Brien got back on track and cut brother Pat's margin in the 358 Modified point standings slightly with a convincing win. O Brien charged through the pack early and then rocketed away to large advantages. However, when the checkered flag fell Pat O Brien was second across the line followed by Kyle Dingwall, Mark Hitchcock and Bryan Rogers.

Marcel Pecore continued his domination of the Sportsman division scoring feature win number 6 of the year. Pecore started 8th but only took 8 laps to get to the front and help his car owner Mike Lasalle celebrate his birthday in style. Ryan Poole with his best effort of the season got runner up status with Jason Riddell, Chris Herbison and Jeremy Lasalle rounding out the fast five.

The Rookies ran the final feature of the night with Josh Kane winning a spirited 12 lap battle with Steve Smith. Jeff Smith, Jessica Power and Martin Bernard were third through fifth respectively. Brockville Ontario Speedway returns to action on Monday night, August 8th with the Super DIRT Series for 358 Modifieds returning to make up a rained out show from June 21st. Time trials are scheduled for 6:30 pm with the first green flag at 7:30. Next Friday night will be Fan Appeciation Night with an autograph session and kids cardboard bos races at intermission. Start time on August 12th is again 7:30 pm.
