Planck and Ladouceur both score their 4th of the season at Cornwall

CORNWALL-Dale Planck and Joey Ladouceur have pretty good batting averages at Cornwall Motor Speedway this season. Planck is hitting above 500 with 4 wins in 7 feature runs so far, while Ladouceur is 4 for 6 opportunities. Both took number 4 on Sunday night.

Planck carved through the field in the early going of the 30 lap Modified feature going from 14th starting position to take the top spot from Perry Francis on lap 9. Planck turning consistent laps of under 14 seconds was able to pull away at will from the rest of the field. Dave Heaslip was second at the checkered flag followed by Mark Hitchcock, Brian McDonald and Tom Jock Jr.

Ladouceur had a lot tougher time in the 20 lap Pro Stock main, as he and Marc Therrien swapped the lead back and forth 6 times in a 5 lap span just past the halfway mark. Ladouceur sped away for the final 5 laps for the victory. Therrien was a strong second in front of PJ Peters, Clayton Benedict and Mitchell Jock.

The last 4 laps of the Semi Pro event were very dramatic as three different cars led the race with Dan Mitchell finally prevailing by a car length over Carey Terrance. However, the Mitchell car was penalized for an on track infraction handing Terrance his fourth win of the year. The race was red flagged on lap 4 after a double roll over by Jack Johnson. Johnson wasn’t injured but his car was virtually destroyed in the mishap in turn 4.

The closest finish of the night came in the 12 lap Rookie event. Donald Leduc led from wire to wire but was only a bumper ahead of Kurtis McPhee as they crossed the finish line. Dan Lortie, Ernie Cree and Joey St. Louis made up the rest of the fast five.

The Speedway returns to action next Sunday night with the premier event of the racing season with the Big Block Super DIRT Series 100 lapper for Modifieds. The best of DIRT will compete for a purse of $40,000. The Pro Stocks and Semi Pro will also be in action. Time trials begin at 6pm with the green flag dropping at 7 pm.
