Sunday night at the Cornwall Speedway

Good start for Lee Ladouceur and Brian MacDonald

Veteran Brian MacDonald and young Lee Ladouceur were the first drivers to visit the Modified Winners' Circle on Sunday night at the Cornwall Track, on the curtain-raiser of this hugely popular ride with stockists -becan.

In the first 20-lap final, MacDonald, who the week before had tested his racing car at the Granby Autodrome, took the measure of Stéphane Lafrance in the fourth pass and thus spinning to his first win. Danny O'Brien, a former Cornwall champion, took second place followed by Mark Hitchcock, Laurent Ladouceur and Martin Roy.

After driving with a flat tire during the last four laps of the initial final, Lee Ladouceur, a former champion in 4 Cylinders and Recent Model, was able to take advantage of the fact that he started from first place to win his first success in Modified. Mark Hitchcock tried to surprise him at the end on the occasion of raises, but he was never able to do it and had to settle for second place ahead of Dan Jalbert, Martin Roy and Richard Chauvin.

Note that Martin Roy has a great start to the season on clay. At Granby Autodrome, he finished second overall, while in Cornwall, he finished first in the first five.

In the Recent Model class, the veteran Dave Bissonnette is the one who won in front of Stéphane Lebrun and Marcel Pecore while in Duke Stock, Tammy Jalbert did the same before Gaétan Amesse and Chuck Van Winden. In 4 Cylinders, Billy Woodward is the one who stood out.

Another full program will be presented by promoter Ron Morin next Sunday evening as the drivers of the Recent Model class will compete for a 50-lap final counting for the "Mr .Radiator" series.
