DOIRON CUP AND MR.RADIATOR SERIES DECIDED

It was a night of championships at Cornwall Motor Speedway. The Modifieds ran the 4th and final race in the Doiron Engineering Cup while the Late Models decided the Mr.Radiator series. Kingston, Ontario's Danny O'Brien won the feature to cement his claim to the Doiron Cup and the $1,500 that goes along with it. O'Brien held off strong charges from Pierre Dagenais (Gatineau, Quebec) and Frank Cozze (Windgap, Pennsylvania) to win his 4th feature of the season at the quarter-mile DIRT oval. Dagenais tried to work the inside groove on O'Brien but the Kingston driver held on, mostly on the high side of the track. Cozze made a couple of charges only to come up short of the lead. O'Brien and Dagenais exchanged the lead early on the 30-lap race but O'Brien used his experience at Cornwall to hold off the points leader from Edelweiss. Just as Dagenais would try to take over the lead, Cozze would work his way close make a run for top spot. Dave Heaslip (Smiths Falls, Ontario) came in 4th with Bill Mullin (Iroquois, Ontario) rounding out the top 5. Heaslip was able to hold on and claim 2nd place in the Doiron Cup. That carries a $1,000 prize. Laurent Ladouceur didn't place in the top 10 but did pick up enough points to win the $500 3rd prize in the Doiron series.

Lee Ladouceur won the 4th and final race in the Mr.Radiator Series. It was Ladouceur's 4th feature win of the season at Cornwall Motor Speedway. Promoter Ron Morin and the sponsors agreed to up the pot to $1,000 for the winner of the 50-lap feature. That left Ladouceur with a $1,500 night becaue he finished 3rd in the series. The winner of the Mr.Radiator Series is Brockville, Ontario driver Randy Earl. He finished the feature 5th but that was good enough to earn him the title. Earl gets $1,500 for the series win. Alexandria, Ontario driver Marc Therrien finished the feature and the series in 2nd place.

Dominic Gauvreau (Gatineau, Quebec) won the Duke Stock feature. Stephane Lemire (Drummondville, Quebec) finished 2nd while Stephane Phillipe from Masham, Quebec finished 3rd.

Kees Van Winden (Moorewood, Ontario) returned to the winner's circle for the 3rd time this season after taking the checkered flag in the Rookie Stock feature. Last week's winner, Tammy Jalbert came in 2nd. Alexandria, Ontario driver, Roch Aubin finished 3rd.
