After last weeks rain and no racing and then tonight with the threat of rain everyone needed a shot of racing to feed or fix their racing cravings. As the gates were to open a dark cloud approached with sprinkling of rain in the air. A decision had to be made and the radar showed cells more south & north of us; so DIS gambled to still proceed with a green flag. As the trailers and cars drove in rain drizzled a few more times before the cars took to the track and made it all the way through with the night having a little rain as we ended the night. Tonight was jammed packed full of action. The track was very heavy and fast and good tonight. Two heats with 7 cars qualifying and 1 consi with 8 cars qualifying.
Stormin Norman Short was on the pole at the green as the cars headed into turn , a car shoots in the middle of the pack for a hole and gets sideways causing a chain reaction with Dutton, Wilkins, and Millman all in the mishaps and done for the night.
Short leads at the restart but Foskey had the lead as he came out of turn 2. Yellow on lap 4 and at the restart Foskey leads to the flag stand with Mullins, Short, Bunting, following behind. Yellow back out for 4 or 5 cars in turn 3, with Taylor, Ott, and Bufflino all involved. Lap 7 another yellow for Bufflino in turn 2 ( second strike, not his night). On the restart of lap 8 it Foskey, Mullins, Downs, Johnson, and Short. Bufflino left the track on last yellow and returns to the track as the action is mixing up some but as he gets in turns 3 & 4 and got around. ( I said not his night, 3rd strike your out.) This time restart only change up was Bunting moving into 5th as Short slips back and remained that way at the 1/2 sign. Sixth -thru 10th were Mills, Short, Hendrickson, Smith, and Simpson.
Lap 14 Taylor got his 3rd strike with no change in the top 5. On lap 16 Johnson checks up or slows in turn 2 so Bunting took advantage of that to take 4th and the yellow was out before the lap was complete so Johnson got a break to retain 4th; Johnson made use of his luck and turns it up a notch to battle Downs side by side off turn 4 and down to turn 1 to take 3rd on lap 20. On lap 21 Mullins was right on the bumper of Foskey in the turns, yet Foskey pulls out ahead. Lap 23 in turn 3 Foskey and Mullins are hard at it as they approach the lap car of Ott and Johnson right in the mix too. But Foskey did not wavier and finished to take his first win for 2005 in the Scott's Furniture machine.
Heat 1 had Short on the point by lap 2 Foskey takes the lead in turn 2. Half way with Foskey, Short, Johnson, Downs, Dutton.
Heat 2 started with Rust on pole; lap 2 Rust and Wilkins were wheel to wheel action in turn 2 and through the backstretch. Lap 3 cars approach turn 1 as Rust gets out of shape and Bunting tangles with Rust both get around. The announcer said the tape review had Glanden getting sideways, Tucker goes over front end of Humlhanz, as Bunting had no where to go and gets into Tucker and Tucker winding over on his roof in turn 2. Lap 4 restart Mullins took the lead.
In the consi Millman leads at the green while Smith went down in turn 4 to get by Millman to win the consi.
Downs had another great run with a top 5, Foskey ran flawless with Mullins on his butt.
