Silvernail Gets First Win In 30 Years At Woodhull Raceway

(WOODHULL,NY)- The sun shined as teams filled the pit area this past Saturday. The last week before the points championship which meant the competition was fire.
Bob Silvernail and Russell Morseman led the 23 car Insinger Performance Modified field to green. Silvernail grabbed the lead. Second place runner Morseman stopped on the back stretch after a caution in turn three. Brian Doolittle moved up into the second spot. Brady Fultz, Joe Dgien and Doolittle battled for the second position. Dgien clinched second as the field came under the flag stand. Drivers battled back through the pack as Billy Van Pelt and Cory Costa were grabbing spots to help their points battle. Dillon Groover started to make his way up through the pack as well until a front end problem caused him to take his car pit side.
Costa kept running the highside along with Van Pelt. Van Pelt got tangled up in a caution on lap two and had to go to the rear. On lap 15 Van Pelt was back up to eight and inching towards the top five cars. Silvernail, Dgien, Fultz and Cartwright were a strong running top four with many fast cars behind them. On lap 24 Costa went to the highside but ended up losing control and spinning around. This brought the field back and Dgien tried to get by Silvernail but couldn’t do it. Silvernail grabbed his first victory in 30 years. Dgien, Cartwright, Fultz, and Van Pelt rounded out the top five.
Isabel Barron grabbed the lead early in the NAPA Crate Sportsman race. Cars were all over the track battling for positions. Cole Youse was running strong grabbing positions before having an unfortunate mechanical issue. This would cause a caution on lap four. Veteran drivers such as AJ Costley and Tim Guild were right behind Barron as she tried to search for her first victory. Stevie Hartman III made his way up through the pack and sat inside the top five.
Points leader Kenny Peoples Jr. also moved up into the top five inching towards the lead. Guild and Ted Morseman would battle for second but Hartman III and Peoples Jr. would continue their battle for fourth on lap nine. Hartman III moved into the lead taking it away from Barron. He grabbed the checkered flags but upon post race tech inspection a part was under controversy. Owner, Ted White has made the decision to send the part out to be further examined. Barron, Guild, Peoples Jr., and Morseman finished behind Hartman III.
Jim Weatherley and Noah Talada led the Joe Willcox Performance Automatics Street Stocks to the green flag. Cars went six wide as they went under the flag stand all battling for the lead. Talada would lead over Jared Hill and Weatherley. Mick ‘The Quick’ Seeley moved into the lead after battling three other cars. Brett Marlatt battled Seeley for the lead while Kurt Stebbins and Hill battled for the spots behind them.
The battle continued as Stebbins bobbled coming off the corner and lost a spot, Marlatt continued to put pressure on Seeley and took over the race lead on lap 17.Marlatt continued his lead despite a few late race cautions. One of those including top point runner Stebbins who suffered from a right front flat tire. Seeley and Branden Morseman put pressure on Marlatt on the final laps but didn’t have enough to get by. Marlatt captured the win after running 35-laps in memory of Scott Dennison with Seely, Moresman, Hill and Brett Crawford finishing the top five.
Carter Crooker grabbed the race lead early in the Daugherty Auto Sales and Service Mini Stocks. Rick Amidon quickly followed behind in second. Jason Ketrow who sits second in points was wasting no time getting to the front. Ketrow settled into third as the cars behind him battled for positions. Three wide cars went on lap six dueling for spots.
Amidon and Ketrow battled for the second spot. Ron Dailey Jr., Ted Morseman and Josh Webster battled for the fourth position and would continue to battle until the checkered flag. Crooker claimed yet another victory with his no. 32 machine. Ketrow, Amidon, Scott Lehman and Webster would round out the top five.
Darin Horton grabbed the race lead early in the Cummings Trucking RUSH Crate Late Models. Steve LeBarron was fast off the start and quickly took over the lead onlap two. From the middle on back cars went three wide. The top two points runners, Kurt Stebbins and Jason Knowles were moving quickly up through the field. However Stebbins suffered from car troubles and was unable to finish the race.
J. Knowles moved his way up into second and set his eyes on LeBarron. Scott Waters and Dustin Waters battled for third and fourth as Brian Knowles moved into the top five to mix it up. J. Knowles put heavy pressure on LeBarron for the lead on lap 13 but couldn’t get around him. J. Knowles continued the pressure but LeBarron was victorious. J. Knowles, S. Waters, D. Waters, and B. Knowles rounded out the top five following behind LeBarron.
AJ Niedermaier lead the first seven laps of the Woodhull Auto Supply Hobby Stocks. However due to car troubles was unable to finish. This put Leo Eldridge into the lead and Chris Woodard not far behind him. Woodard took over the lead on lap eight. Points leader, Jeredd Dennis moved into the second position as he went under the flag stand.
Les Smith, a driver who’s taken a few week’s off from the ‘highbanks’ picked up right where he left off and was charging up through the pack, moving into the fourth spot. J. Dennis would try to put pressure on Woodard but wouldn’t be able to follow through. Woodard picked up the win with J. Dennis, Lee Bills, Smith, and Eldridge finishing right behind him.
Brody Amidon drove into the lead in the Daugherty Auto Sales and Service Woodhull Warriors. With the points leader behind him, Amidon had to perfect his corner entry and exit. Josh Isaman and Jacob Tubbs would battle with Brooke McClain while Amidon set off in the lead. Rookie driver, Bradley Morseman also moved up into the fifth spot and battled for some race positions. Amidon was victorious with McClain, Isaman, Tubbs, and Morseman finishing the top five.
Nick Brown grabbed the race lead in the Johnson’s Auto Supply FWD division. Points leader, Codie Baker quickly moved into second. Further back, Ryan Austin and Ronnie Dailey battled for the eighth position but Austin would win the battle and move up a few more spots. Battles would be pack on through the pack as drivers fought for positions.
Scott Lehman Jr. moved into the top five and started to put pressure on fourth place. On lap 11 Lehman Jr. moved into third while Brown continued to lead. Baker went low while Brown went high but Brown had the run and would beat Baker to the finish line. Lehman Jr., Prescott, and Shawn Gleason would finish the top five.
