MANMILLER WINS FOURTH AND STOUDT TAKES SIXTH WIN AT GRANDVIEW

BECHTELSVILLE, PA JULY 20, 2002…….Doug Manmiller drove to his fourth official NASCAR Modified feature win at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night, winning the 30-lap Harry's U-Pull-It Auto Parts /Gatorade sponsored feature in a down to the checkered flag victory over defending track modified champion Craig VonDohren and current point leader Jeff Strunk. And Randy Stoudt of Pottstown continued his domination of the NASCAR Late Models as he won the 20-lap feature for his sixth win of the season.

Mike Gular lead the NASCAR Weekly Racing Series presented by Dodge modified feature early with Shawn Reimert taking the top spot on the 10th lap. A flat tire forced Reimert out of the race on the 15th lap giving the lead to Craig VonDohren. However on the 16th lap restart, after a caution, Doug Manmiller (Sinking Spring, PA), who had started 10th charged to the front of the field with the GMI First Mechanical Solutions #00 Modified.

The rest of the 30 lap feature was a battle between Manmiller, VonDohren and Strunk, a couple of cautions making the win even more difficult to claim, but Manmiller was able to stay in front for the $2200 victory. VonDohren (Oley) and his Mrs T's Pierogies sponsored entry) was second followed by Strunk (Bethel), Tracy Readinger (Oley) and Jon Kellner (Lansdale).

A second turn accident in the closing laps did force Meme DeSantis, a multi feature winner who was charging toward the front of the pack, to the back of the field. And Ray Swinehart, a former champion, challenging for a top five finish was eliminated from contention in a late race incident.

The 20-lapper for Late Models had Bill Henning leading the feature for much of the first half with no challenges. However as the race reached the midway point Randy Stoudt moved up to challenge Henning and the two battled side-by-side for several laps. On the 13th lap Stoudt, in the Rogers Auto Parts #22, went to first spot and stayed for the balance of the feature event. Henning (Lansdale) earned second followed by Kyle Pensinger (Lyon Station), Terry Snyder (Green Lane) and Lou Egrie (Huntington Valley).

A late race multi car accident virtually wiped out the cars of Dean Stoudt, last week's feature winner Ed Trimbur, former champion John Giesler and Ron Kline. The third turn accident as serious as it was had no injuries.

Qualifying events for more than 50 modifieds on hand were won by Tracy Readinger, Kerry Kratz, Jeff Strunk, Meme DeSantis and Craig VonDohren. The consolation races went to Randy Stoudt, doing double duty running both divisions, Ron Solomon and John Willman. The Automotive Machining Service Cash Dash was won by Kerry Kratz. At feature time Kratz had to take over a teammate's car, the #15 of Brian Schaeffer, as his #87 Hatfield Quality Meats entry suffered mechanical problems.

The Late Model qualifying events with more than 35 cars on hand, were won by Randy Stoudt, Chuck Schutz and Doug Walton. The consolation went to Rick Todorow.

A new sponsor comes to Grandview Speedway this Saturday night, July 27th, when 3M Night is presented, with NASCAR Modifieds being featured along with the Late Model stock cars. There will be at least 12 events of stock car racing starting at 7:30 p.m.

And on Saturday, August 3, Stauffer Construction Co. will presented the Forrest Rogers Memorial 50-lap Modified Championship. The event being run in memory of the man who built the speedway will pay $10,000 to win and is one of the most prized victories in area stock car racing. The Late Model stock cars will also be part of the show. Racing will start at 7:30 p.m. The BLUES BROTHERS ACT will be part of the special evening giving forms a different type of entertainment. This event will be videotaped by RCN4 Cable TV for showing at a later date on their network which can be seen through the Lehigh Valley (PA).

Auto racing events presented at Grandview Speedway are carried live on the Audio Link at WWW.GRANDVIEWSPEEDWAY.COM.
