JOEY LADOUCEUR WINS DIRT PRO STOCK SERIES RACE AT FROGTOWN
HOGANSBURG, NY ... Joey Ladouceur of Alexandria, Ontario took one of the biggest wins of his career by winning the first race in the Empire Sports Network DIRT Pro Stock Super DIRT Series at Frogtown International Speedway this past Saturday night.
Jody Swamp and tour regular Dave Shultz started on the front row of the Kanienkahaka Fuels / Dave’s Barber Shop event with Swamp grabbing the early lead followed closely by Louie Jackson, Shultz and Ladouceur who started 4th in the field. Swamp held the lead until lap #6 when Ladouceur came storming up through to take the lead. Ladouceur tried to put some distance between he and his competitors but each time he tried to run away from the field, the caution would come out and tightened up the filed. In the back of the field, John Lazore, William Adams and the #6 of Travis Back worked their way through quickly using the numerous cautions to their advantage to close in on the speedy Ladouceur but it was not meant to be as Joey had his car hooked up perfectly and went on for the win. William Adams held on for a great second place finish with teammate Travis Back finishing third. Jody Swamp and John Lazore rounded out the top five.
In the DIRT 358 Modified feature, Dave Heaslip of Smith Falls, Ontario continues his tremendous season of racing in the area as he took home the win in the 25 lap feature event. Doug Fuller of Edwards, New York started on the front row along with popular George "Boomer" McIntyre with Fuller grabbing the early lead. Fuller fought off a number of challenges for the lead until lap #9 when Heaslip came storming up through the field from his 11th starting spot along with Brian McDonald to challenge Fuller for the lead. Heaslip was able to get by the long time veteran Fuller to take over first place. McDonald in the West Front Construction special got by Fuller on lap #15 and set his sights on Heaslip for the #1 spot.
As track conditions changed, Heaslip had things go his way as he hooked up perfectly on the bottom and held off McDonald for the win. McDonald settled for second with the consistent Kyle Jacobs, "Mr. Outside" Mark Hitchcock and Doug Fuller rounding out the top five.
In the Semi Pro division, it was Steven Brand winning the most exciting race of the evening holding off a last lap challenge by the #91 of Mike Allen that ended with Allen breaking an axle after pulling along side of Brand that took away what probably would have been a photo finish for sure. Chris Rabideau drove a great race to finish second with Craig Reyell, Carey Terrance and Chad Vallance rounding out the top five.
In the popular Bandit division, Billy "Woo Woo" Woodward clinched the 2003 Frogtown International Speedway track championship fighting off repeated challenges from the #19E of Ernie Cree. Jeb Beeson who was the early race leader finished third with Nick Mallette and newcomer Gerry Oszczakiewicz rounding out the top five.
In the 20 lap Enduro special, it was the #555 of Donald Delormier taking home his first win at Frogtown as he held off Mike Denny for the win. The #55 of Ronnie Gibson was third with Cory Edwards and Brandon Snyder rounding out the top five.
Next week it will be the third running of the Frogtown International Speedway Race of Champions for the 358 Modifieds. This will be a 50 lap event with a guaranteed starting spot at Syracuse up for grabs. This will also be the final points night in all classes and track champions will be crowned in each division.
