DAVE HEASLIP WINS VICTORIA 200 QUALIFIER AT FROGTOWN

Hogansburg, NY - Dave Heaslip of Smith Falls, Ontario is on a mission in 2003. The long time 358 Modified Canadian star was winning in everything he did on the racetrack this past Saturday night as he took home a victory in the 1st running of the "Victoria at Frogtown".

Brian "Slim" McDonald and popular Doug Fuller started on the front row of the Oionkwaonwe Enterprises / G&G Smoke Shop / Valley Paper Company main event. Heaslip in the #84 immediately wasted no time in getting to the front and grabbed the lead on lap #1 followed by McDonald, Jeff Sykes, Perry Francis and Boomer McIntyre. On lap 26, Sykes made a great move on the outside of Heaslip to grab the lead, but the crafty "Slip" was not done yet as the two raced side by side down the backstretch with Heaslip grabbing the lead once again and went on for the win. Jeff Sykes finished second after a great battle with the always-consistent Boomer McIntyre getting up for third. Brian McDonald and Bill Woodward rounded out the top five.

In the DIRT Pro Stock division, John Lazore who has come a long way as a racer in a short period of time finally picked up the feature win he has worked so hard to get at Frogtown.

Lazore and Tim Allen started on the front row with Lazore getting the lead followed closely by Allen, Mitchell Jock, Louie Jackson and Dave Bissonnette. On lap #7, Mitchell Jock grabbed the lead from Lazore as John spun around on the front stretch but made a fantastic recovery and kept on going without stopping. Up in front Mitchell Jock and Dave "The Bulldog" Bissonnette continued their battle for the top spot. On lap #11, John Lazore caught both Jock and Bissonnette and made it a three-car battle royal for the lead. Lazore got by Bissonnette on lap #14 and then after a quick battle with Mitchell Jock, passed him on lap 15 and went on for the win. Mitchell Jock finished second with Dave Bissonnette, Jody Swamp and the popular William Adams rounding out the top five.

In the Semi Pro division, Steve Brand continued his winning ways with a big victory over Chad Vallance and Kevin Fetterly, Jr.

Brand started 5th in the field and took the lead in lap #2 fighting off challenges from Pete Backus, Corey Terrance and Chad Vallance early in the race. Steven Brand won the Semi Pro main event with Chad Vallance, Kevin Fetterly, Jr., Bruce Merpaw and Dick Planty rounding out the top five.

In the popular Bandit division, Billy "Woo Woo" Woodward came home the winner over Kevin Mere in the most exciting and entertaining race of the year at Frogtown.

In the Enduro Feature, it was Francis Thompson picking up the win with Mark Almond finishing second and Chad Shantie picking up third.

Next Saturday night it will be Bears Den and JR Fuels night at the Speedway with a huge fireworks display and the popular kiddies tire race during the intermission. The main event of the evening will be the 13th running of the Firecracker 25 for the 358 Modifieds. Pit gates open at 5:30 p.m., the main grandstand gates opening at 6:00 p.m. and the first race will get underway at 7:00 p.m. sharp. It will be an exciting night for the whole family so come on out to "The Frog".
