HEASLIP HOPS TO FROGTOWN WIN; PERROTTE CLINCHES CHAMPIONSHIP
HOGANSBURG, NY - Dave Heaslip of Smith Falls, ONT captured his the 358 Modified feature win on Bombard's Fuel Service/NorthNet night at the Frogtown International Speedway, while Mike Perrotte of Morrisonville clinched the 358 Modified track championship title with a second-place finish. Eric Gauvreau of Chelsea, QUE won the Pro Stocks, Louie Jackson of Hogansburg won the Semi-Pro, Kurtis McPhee bested the Bandits, while Jody Swamp won the Enduros and Jamie St. Mary of Malone won the Demo Derby. The Modifieds put on one of their best races all season, with Craig Ormsby of Schuyler Falls leading the first seven laps of the event. Dave Heaslip made his move to the top spot on lap number seven, while Simon Marcoux in third spot tried to hold off a hard-charging Mike Perrotte. Perrotte swept past Marcoux for third spot on lap 12 and a lap later moved past Ormsby for the runner-up spot. While a couple of cautions for minor incidents tightened up the field, Heaslip was able to maintain a two car-length lead over Perrotte throughout the event. Brian McDonald of Cornwall tried to hold off Gatineau, QUE's Pierre Dagenais for third, but Dagenais got by on lap 18. As the checkered waved, Heaslip raced to the win with Perrotte right behind. Dagenais scored third, McDonald fourth, while Craig Ormsby beat Kingston's Todd Stewart to the line by a bumper for fifth spot. It looked like the Gauvreau brothers would again finish first and second in the Pro Stocks, with Eric leading the way, but on the final lap brother Denis got sideways coming out of turn two and dropped from second to seventh in the final run-down. Eric Gauvreau captured the win, his fourth of the season, while Pro Stock point leader Steve Francis hustled for second spot, with Sid Harmer, John Greene and Mike Allen rounding out the top five.
The Semi-Pro feature was outstanding, with two and three-wide racing throughout the event. Louie Jackson and Duane Brainard, in a heated rivalry for the track championship, both powered past Tim Allen and Mike Trombley for the top spots halfway through the event. From there on out, Jackson maintained a two-car length lead over Brainard in the final laps to capture his fifth Semi-Pro feature win. Brainard was second, followed Greg Snyder, Andy Heywood and Pete Backus. A post-race technical inspection found both Brainard and eighth-place finisher Mike Trombley to have altered the mounting points for their shocks, with both drivers fined all prize money and half the night's points for the infraction.
The Bandits put on a great battle, with Kurtis McPhee of Cornwall cutting through lapped traffic to win an incredible ninth feature of the season. Richard Brunelle of Long Sault, ONT finished second, with Westville's Bryan Loeb finishing third. Cornwall's Ann Pecore scored a career-best fourth-place, while Ellenburgh's Peter Cename finished fifth.
The Slick Track Enduro was a barn-burner, with Jody Swamp, Ryan Phillips and Tim Wilcox locked in a tight battle for the win until Wilcox's car was collected in a front-stretch pile-up with two laps to go. Swamp went on for the win, while Phillips was second and Stacy Boots rounded out the top three.

Also on the card is a full program for the Pro Stocks, Semi-Pro, Bandits and the Slick Track Enduro cars, while ATV and Motorcycle exhibition races presented by Irwin Supply.
