Bitner, Radd, Hoffman Split Triple 20s At New Egypt

New Egypt, NJ (July 20) - Three Modified drivers had a turn in New Egypt

Speedway's victory lane Saturday night, as Mark Bitner of Allentown, NJ,

Donny Radd of Ringoes, NJ, and Whitehall, PA's Keith Hoffman split a Triple

Play of three 20-lap features, sponsored by Reclamation Inc. of Kingston,

NY. Although no one laid claim to the $1,500 Trifecta bonus Reclamation

offered to any driver to post a trio of top-three finishes, Hoffman - with a

win, a third, and a fifth - was the night's top overall finisher; collecting

an extra $500 for his efforts.

"We couldn't quite get the $1,500 but we got $500 and that's pretty cool,"

Hoffman said after winning the final race of the night. "We made a lot of

changes to the car for this last one -- had a hard time getting it to stay

on the cushion. It was good, but not good enough to win until then."

A hot Mark Bitner quickly charged to the fore in the first Modified 20,

grabbing the lead on lap 6 and never looking back for the duration. Fred

Dmuchowski, in his best run all season, was second, with Keith Hoffman, Todd

Burley and Billy Pauch completing the top five.

In the second Modified race, Donny Radd survived a tooth-and-nail battle

with Tim Tanner Jr. and Bobby Drayton to record his first career win at the

speedway. Tanner, Frank Cozze, Drayton and Hoffman followed Radd to the

stripe.

In the final Mod 20, Hoffman outpowered a determined Darren McCaughey for

final bragging rights on the night. Cozze, Tanner and Pauch trailed Hoffman

and McCaughey at the finish.

Mt. Laurel, NJ's Jack Swain rebounded from weeks of bad luck to clinch his

second of the season in the Sportsman main event. Matt Papiez, Mike Lyons,

Scott Reid and Chuck Flesch were second through fifth.

A jubilant Carol Whitehouse of Hamilton Square, NJ, scored her first win in

four years in the Super Stock race. Whitehouse outdrove Bill Miscoski, Gary

Butler, division points leader Ralph Gargiulo and Rich Page for the victory.

The Herman's Trucking Lightning Lap Awards for fastest lap in a feature

event were won by Mark Bitner (Mods, 18.015), Mike Lyons (Sportsman, 19.494)

and Mario Page (Super Stock, 20.550).

As the night's sponsor, in addition to the Trifecta bonus for the Modified

racers, Reclamation Inc. had a ton of specially-designed T-shirts to toss

into the grandstands, and a trio of bicycles for three lucky kids.

Next week, July 27, Century 21 presents Banner Night at New Egypt Speedway,

with some great prizes for adults and kids who design the best banners in

support of their favorite drivers. Modifieds, Sportsman and Super Stocks are

on the action-packed racing card. Gates open at 4 pm, with first race at 6.

Adult admission is $14, children 7-12 are $4, and kids 6 and under are free.
