MCKEE AND JASHEMBOWSKI OPEN OCFS SEASON

Middletown, NY: Defending Modified champion Chuck McKee of Middletown, NY and Frank Jashembowski of Middletown, NY opened the Orange County Fair Speedway season Saturday night capturing the big block and 358 modified feature events, respectively. McKee, who started on the pole via heat race results for the first night, led wire to wire in the Trailer King 30 lap Modified feature. Jerry Higbie moved into 2nd on lap 20 and finished in that spot as the checkered and caution flew at the end. Mike DePalma, returning to OCFS on a regular basis after several partial seasons in the DIRT Sportsman and 358 modifieds, finished 3rd. 2002 358 modified champion Tim Hindley, now a big block regular, was 4th. Tommy Meier completed the top five.

Taking the the WRWD Radio 107.3 25 lap 358 modified opener was Jashembowski who hadn't won a small block feature here since 1995. Jashembowski overtook Tom Hindley on the backstretch of lap 16 and then raced home in front of Mike Ricci. Bud Christmann, Jerry Higbie and Jeff Heotzler rounded out the top five.

Clinton Mills, of Middletown, NY won the 20 lap DIRT Sportsman feature for his 2nd career win. Mills, the rookie of the year in 2002, took the top spot on lap 9 from Neil Harris and then ran home in front of Alan Sturhann, Rich Coons, Joe Dunay, and a returning Bobby Hentschel.

Picking up from where he left off in Charlotte, Bob McGannon of Garnerville, NY claimed the 14 lap Expert Pro Stock feature. The 12 lap Rookie affair went to Pat O'Mara of Mahopac, NY. Former champion Al D'Antonio of Highland Lakes, NJ returned to the Pure Stock division and easily captured the 12 lap event.

Racing returns Saturday night, April 26 with a regular program of Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks. The first green flag drops at 6:30 pm.
