McKEE THREE-PEATS OCFS MODS

Middletown, NY: After finishing 3rd in the WLR Construction 35 lap point season finale for the big block Modifieds, Chuck McKee of Middletown, NY captured his 3rd straight modified title and his 4th in the last 5 years. Challenger Jeff Heotzler won his 4th feature of the season, but it wasn't enough as McKee needed to finish only 6th or better to take the crown. Heotzler won by half a track over Gary Edwards, Jr.

The 358 Modified title went to Tim Hindley of Monticello, NY even though he finished 8th. Jerry Higbie of Slate Hill, NY won for the first time this season over Tommy Meier, McKee, Bud Christmann, and Jackie Brown, Jr.in the Torrisi's Agway 358 Modified feature. It was Hindley's 1st small block crown after winning two previous DIRT Sportsman titles here.

For the first time in over a decade, a feature ended in a dead heat. Stan Jablonka of Poughqaug, NY caught race leader Joe Dunay of Vernon, NJ at the finish line to tie for the DIRT Sportsman feature. Jablonka won his 2nd DIRT Sportsman over third finishing David Van Horn. Jablonka's first title came in 1995.

The Expert Pro Stock title was claimed by Tom Dembek of Middletown, NY as he won his 4th feature of the season. It was Dembek's first Expert title. The Rookie Pro Stock title had already been claimed by Bob Waters, Jr. of Stony Point NY. Bob Johnson of Carmel, NY won his the feature, his 2nd of the season.

The Pure Stock crown was already taken by Ron Irvin of Hyde Park, NY and he won the first of the two Pure Stock races. The second was taken by Mike Vigaletti of Garnerville, NY.

This Saturday night finds the "Festival of Crashes" as there will be a 50 lap Enduro, a ladies Enduro, a four cylinder Enduro and the last event in the Chet's Garage Demo derby series. The night's activities will be concluded by a display of Fireworks. Pit gates open at 4 and the grandstands at 4:30.
