SHULTZ AND MEIER WIN TWIN 25'S
Middletown, NY: Chris Shultz of Holmes, NY and Tommy Meier of Waldwick, NJ were the winners in the twin 25 lap Collier Motor Car modified features held at the Orange County Fair speedway Saturday night. In the opener, Shultz out powered Bruce Kline in turn 4 of lap 23 and then held off Danny Johnson to record his 2nd win of the season and the 5th of his brief two year big block career. The nightcap saw Meier, starting 14th after the top twenty finishers from the first event were inverted, take the lead on lap 19. Again Johnson applied the pressure in the closing laps, but Meier held on for the 4th checkered of his career and the first in two years.
The Ralph Davis Welding 20 lap DIRTSportsman feature saw Mike Kolka of Middletown, NY claim his 2nd win of the season holding off current point leader Stan Jablonka. David Van Horn, Alan Houghtaling, and Lee Charnock completed the top five.
The Expert Pro Stock feature of 14 laps went to Bob McGannon of Garnerville, NY while the Rookie 12 lap run was claimed by current point leader Bob Waters, Jr. of Stony Point, NY. For McGannon, it was his 3rd of the year while Waters won for the 6th time.
In Pure Stock action, Shawn Maher of Wurtsboro, NY took his second 12 lap feature of the season.
The Orange County Fair begins this week. Enduro's take center stage on Wednesday, July 17th while the Monster Trucks take over the speedway on Thursday and Friday nights. Stock car racing returns on Saturday July 20th with a regular card of Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks. Racing is at the usual 6:30 pm starting time.
