GOODRICH WINS CAREER SECOND
Middletown, NY: Long time veteran Scott Goodrich of Middletown, NY won the second big block feature of his career Saturday night at the Orange County Fair Speedway. Taking the lead after a lap two restart in the Collier Motor Car Co. 30 lap main event, Goodrich held off Randy Sherlock when the caution flew with 5 laps remaining, to reach victory lane for the first time since 1989. Goodrich became the 9th different big block winner in 11 events held so far this season. Butch Tittle, Jerry Higbie, and Chris Whitehead completed the top five.
In the 20 lap Ralph Davis Welding DIRT Sportsman feature, Kevin Duryea of Wallkill, NY collected his 2nd win of 2001. He outran Bill Haley to take the lead on lap 11 and then raced home in front of Richie Coons, Kevin Paffenroth, Haley and Craig Mitchell.
It was a race between the Middletown, NY Dembeks in the 14 lap Expert Pro Stock feature as Tom edged Andy for his 2nd win of the season. Bob Waters, Jr. of Stony Point, NY collected his 2nd win of the year in the 12 lap Rookie Pro Stock main event.
Al D'Antonio of Highland Lakes, NJ continues to rein supreme in the Pure Stock division as he won for the 8th time this year.
The Sundae Ice Cream Co. 4 lap Modified Dash for Cash for heat race winners was taken by point leader Chuck McKee of Middletown, NY over Bruce Kline, Chris Whitehead, and Ric Hill. The X-Treme Drywall Rookie Pro Stock Dash was claimed by Clark Bradford of Greenville, NY over Nick Rhodes, Glenn Cargain, and Paul Hyde.
Racing returns this Saturday night with the Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, Pro Stocks and Pure Stocks in action. Race time is 6:30 pm .
