STEVE PAINE RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE AT BLACK ROCK

DUNDEE, NY …….The "Hurricane" is back and he swept to victory Friday night in the 358 Modifieds at the Black Rock Speedway on a very busy night. Kevin Chilson to the win in the PPG Super-Stocks, Tommy Austin became the third different winner in the Regional Pro-Trucks, Joe Povoski and Brian Conley were winners in the NAPA 4 Cyl. Stocks, and Steven Ovens took the win in the Black Rock Bandits. Rain out feature winners were Mike Hughey, and Skip Dean in the 4 Cyl. Stocks, and Eddie Machuga took the Pro-Truck make-up feature.

Tim Sebring jumped out to the early lead in the 358 Modified feature on Pelham Electric/Everything Medical night. But the yellow flag came out on the first turn on the opening lap as Gil Tegg jumped the cushion in turn one. As the race resumed, Sebring continued to lead with Aaron Jacobus in second. Sebring began to pull away in the early going, but Steve Paine was on the move and was up to 4th by lap 6. By the 10th lap Paine was battling with Sebring for the lead. Lap 11 saw Paine take the top spot from Sebring. Once out in front, Paine pulled away, and took the checkers almost a half lap ahead of second place finisher, Charlie Donk. Tim Sebring held on for third, Bill Deming got fourth, and John Moravec filled out the top five. Heats were won by, Steve Paine, Charlie Donk, and Todd Henderson.

IN the Modified B-Main, Lance Dussett took the win, with Alex Hoag, Dan Mathews, Dave Yehl, Chuck Kennison, and Lenny Leibold Jr, filling up the top six qualifiers.

In the PPG Super-Stock feature, Rich Karlnoski took the early lead, and looked to be on his way to victory lane. Quinn Sutherland was right there for second in the early stages of the race, and Kevin Chilson was a tight third. Sutherland's race ened on lap 14 when he spun in turn 2 and was hit by Eddie Mills who had no place to go. Dale Welty was out early also, as he had a flat tire on a lap 12 re-start. On the white flag lap, Karlnoski and Chilson were racing for the win, when Karlnoski bobbled in turn four, and Chilson went by for the exciting win. Carl Cleveland got by for second, Karlnoski hung on for third, fourth was Dave Fultz, and Mike Carapella filled out the top five. Heats were won by, Karlnoski, Quinn Sutherland, and Chris Daugherty.

In the Regional Pro-Trucks, Tommy Austin took his first win of the season, as he took the lead from rookie Jim Roberts at the half way point in the event. At the checkers it was Austin in for the win, Fred Buckley , finished second, third was Bob Buono, Steve Brace was fourth, and Don Divens filled out the top five. Heats were won by Tom Austin, and Ron Divens.

In the NAPA 4 Cyl. Stocks, Joe Povoski took his fourth win of the season, as he pulled out an exciting win over Karl Weichenthal, third was Ray Hyer, fourth went to, Alfie Clark, and fifth was Skip Dean. In the second feature, Brian Conley took his first win, Donnie Lawson was second, third was Scott Yaw, fourth went to Les Irwin, and A.J. Potrzebowski was fifth. Heats were won by, Karl Weichenthal, Mike Hughey, Alfie Clark, and Les Irwin.

In the rained out first feature for the 4 Cyl, Stocks from 5-25-01, Mike Hughey took the win over, Joe Povoski, Alfie Clark, Mike Jackson, and Eddie Crawford. In the second feature from the same date, Skip Dean took the win over, Ray Hyer, Kenny Hunt, Tim Povoski, and Terry Povoski.

Eddie Machuga took his first ever win in the Regional Pro-Trucks in the make-up feature from 6-1-01. He took the lead on lap two and pulled away from the field for the convincing win. Don Divens was second, third went to, Bob Buono, Jim Roberts was fourth and Steve Brace filled up the top five.

In the Black Rock Bandits, Steven Ovens took his first win of the 2001 season. He took the win over Jon Wallenbeck, Josh Mills, Ray Speicher, and Nathan Daggett.
