1 ON 1 SPECTATOR RACES AT BLACK ROCK

DUNDEE,N.Y......The ever popular 1 on 1 spectator races will be held for the

final time in the 2000 season on Friday night August 25th. This is the last

opportunity for you, the spectators to bring your own street legal vehicle to

race on the blue clay in single elimination competition. Also on the program

for this final night of racing in the month of August will be the headline

division, 358 Modifieds, DIRT Sportsman, PPG Super-Stocks, Regional Pro-

Trucks, 4 Cyl. Stocks, and Black Rock Bandits. John Ferris Trucking will be

the event sponsors on this night, and their representatives will be in the

luxurious VIP tower. Also during the evening, they will be going trackside to

present trophies to all the winning drivers. The point championships are

winding down in all divisions, and with only one point race left on the 2000

calendar, this will prove to be a pivotal event.

1 on 1 Spectator racing, point championships on the line, and to top it all

off, Rocky the Speedway clown will be there to entertain one and all, and

complete a great night of family entertainment. Gates open at 5:30 P.M.,

racing will get the green flag at 7:00 P.M. Black Rock Speedway is located on

Rte.14A South, jueld on for second, third was Steve

Paine, fourth went to Bryon Turner, and Todd Henderson filled out the top

five.

In the regularly scheduled Modified main, two veteran drivers were at the

top of the field as Chuck Kennison and Walt Mitchell were running wheel to

wheel for the lead. Charlie Donk was on his way to front in this event as

well, and took the lead on a lap 5 re-start. Steve Paine was also headed for

the front and was in 5th on lap 9. By lap 16, Paine was second, and set his

sights on leader Charlie Donk. On lap 22, Paine was in heavy lapped traffic

and got tangled up with Butch Harris and Bill Deming. Paine went to the pits

with a flat right front tire, and the wheel with the flat was not turning.

Paine would not return to the race. At the checkers, it was Donk in for his

second win of the night, Bryon Turner got up for second, third was Tim

Sebring, fourth went to Curt VanPelt, and Alex Hoag filled out the top five.

Heat wins went to, Aaron Jacobus, Tim Sebring, and Steve Paine.

Dale Welty continued his domination of the PPG Super-Stocks, as he pulled

down yet another win in the division. Dave Machuga and Welty raced early and

hard for the top spot in this one. Welty was able to get around Machuga just

after the half way point, and he then ran away and hid from the rest of the

field. At the checkers it was Welty in for the win, second was Dave Machuga,

third went to Quinn Sutherland, fourth was Chris Daugherty and Kevin Chilson

rounded out the top five. Heats were won by, Chilson, Chris Dobson, and Dave

Machuga.

In the rained out Putman Auto Sales 50 event for the 4 Cyl. Stocks, Ray Hyer

led every lap and collected $579 in lap money from a host of lap sponsors. He

just ran away and hid from the rest of the field, Eddie Crawford was a distant

second, third was Eddie Mills, fourth went to, Phil Yaw and Les Irwin filled

out the top five. In the regularly scheduled 4 Cyl. Stock events, Eddie

Mills increased his point lead in the division by taking the win in the first

15 lapper, Jake Clancey was second, third was Ray Hyer, fourth went to, Alfie

Clark and Greg Crooker filled out the top five. Donnie Lawson and Fred Mathews

battled for the win in the second feature with Lawson coming across the line

first. Lawson, however was later disqualified, and the win went to Fred

Mathews, Skip Dean was second, third was Phil Yaw, fourth went to Todd Stone,

and Jason White was fifth. Heat wins went to, Fred Mathews, Ray Hyer, and Karl

Weichenthal.

In the Regional Pro-Trucks, Fred Mathews jumped out to the early lead, and

held on for the win. He had to race hard with Tommy Austin, as these two

swapped the lead several times during the 20 lap event. At the line it was

Mathews with the win, Austin took second, third was Don Divens, Bry Weiskoff

was fourth, and Brian Austin filled out the top five. Heats were won by Tom

Austin and Fred Buckley.

In 1 on 1 Spectator racing, Darryl Saunders was the winner in the car

division, and was also the overall winner, driving the infamous "Grey Ghost".

Willy Grant Jr. was the winner in the truck division.
