TIM McCREADIE TOPS DIRT MOD SHOW DURING WORLD OF OUTLAW STOP
ELBRIDGE, NY...Watertown's Tim McCreadie "came, saw and conquered" on a cold and windy evening, at Rolling Wheels Raceway, last Wednesday. "I never though I would be able to win in this car," stated McCreadie in victory lane. "I'm just so happy with our performance tonight."
Also winning on the evening was World of Outlaw regular Stevie Smith in the 25-lap WoO A main.
McCreadie pounced on the lead from his outside pole starting spot. Pole sitter Butch Tittle lost second to Tim Fuller on lap three, as McCreadie began to dominate by pulling out a ten car advantage.
It only took seven laps to enter lapped traffic as McCreadie was turning in 103 mph laps around the five-eighths mile banked oval. On lap nine, Gary Tomkins was able to pull alongside of Fuller and take second. Fuller held on the best he could but finally fell back by three car lengths.
The only yellow flag of the event came on lap 13 when veteran Bob McCreadie drifted high over the second turn banking. He recovered but not before the yellow flew.
On the restart McCreadie shook off Tomkins and rebuilt his full straight away lead in just eight laps.
McCreadie took the win followed by Tomkins, Fuller, Pat Ward and Danny Johnson.
Mark Kinser looked to have the Outlaws covered as he took the lead at the drop of the green. In a race that was to go green-to-checkered, Kinser, in his 5m Chrysler powered mount, pulled away from WoO regular Paul McMahan in his U2 sprinter in second. But it would be the fifth place runner on the opening lap that would mount a charge at the lead.
Stevie Smith began to pick off the top four cars. He passed Tim Shaffer on lap five for fourth. On lap 12 he was able to get around Joey Saldana. On lap 18, he maneuvered by McMahan for second and took off after Kinser.
On lap 23, Smith took to the high line around two lapped cars, leaving Kinser to get trapped down low. As the four machines exited the fourth turn, Smith was able to take the lead using the pick he had set up.
Smith took the victory followed by Mark Kinser, McMahan, Saldana and Danny Wood in fifth.
Rolling Wheels Raceway will open again on Wednesday, July 4, for the Little Trees 100, an Advance Auto Parts Super DIRT Series event for DIRT Modifieds. The DIRT Sportsman will be running a special 20 lap Firecracker race. Topping the Independence Day evening will be a complete program of fireworks, following the feature event. Race time will be at 6 p.m., when time trials roll off for the Modifieds.
Rolling Wheels Raceway is located just east of Auburn, NY on Route 5. The speedway is easily accessible from NYS Thruway exit 40.
