Jack Zeiner Jr. Wins Mike Petrilak Memorial At Lake Moc-A-Tek

Lakeville, Pa. - Jack Zeiner Jr. made his first start in two seasons a

winning run as he drove the Moore Tire Center #8 to victory in the Mike

Petrilak Memorial event for the Street Stocks. Mike Ricci won the 358

Modified feature and Terry Schaffer won the Micro Sprint feature. Todd

Houghtaling won the Pure Stock feature.

Prior to Saturday night, Jack Zeiner Jr. had not been in a race car

in two full seasons. It didn't take him long to shake the rust off as he

came home the winner of the Mike Petrilak Memorial, the biggest Street

Stock race of the season. Jim

Hughes led the first eighteen laps of the feature before Zeiner was able

to run him down and take the lead. Once out front, Zeiner was able to

drive away from Hughes to pick up the win in the special 22 lap feature.

Hughes finished second with newcomers Dick Vauter and Craig Trella third

and fourth. Joe Krisovich rounded out the top five finishing order.

Mike Loney finishes sixth which clinched him his second consecutive Lakre

Moc-A-Tek Street Stock championship. Tony Nalaschi, Pete Sobol, Nick

Petrilak, and Mike Van Tassel completed the top ten finishers.

Mike Ricci picked up the win in the 358 Modified feature, his

fifteenth total win of the season in the Northeast during the 2001

campaign. Nick Barassi led the first 18 laps of the race before Ricci

was able to make the winning pass. Once out front, Mike opened up a bit

of a lead as Barassi was not able to run him down and settled for second

at the finish. Brian Malcolm finished third with Tom Rudalavage and Bill

Thornton Jr. rounding out the top five. Brian Cobb, Jim Allen, Everett

Haubrich, Don Hildebrandt, and Joe Uliana completed the top ten.

Terry Schaffer picked up the win in the 20 lap 250cc Micro Sprint

feature. Davie Franek led the majority of the race, but lost the top

spot coming to the white flag as Schaffer made the winning pass exiting

the fourth turn. Franek crossed the line for second trailed by Greg

Stevens, Drew Arntz, and Stephanie Stevens. Kevin Dries, Ralph Utter

Jr., Rich McKay, Kevin Horton, and Darrell Cobb made up the second half

of the top ten finishing order. Though regulated to a 13th place finish

with mechanical problems, Richie Hartman was crowned the 2001 Micro

Sprint champion.

Todd Houghtaling won his second Pure Stock feature in as many weeks

as he drove his Ford powered #20 to victory in the 15 lap Pure Stock

feature. Don Leiper recovered from an early race spin to finish second

with Ron Blake earning a third place finish. Michael Lartz and Gregg

Brunges completed the top five. Jay Martin, Keith Villano, John Walsh,

Eric Schmidt, and Tom Cilurso completed the top five.

Despite a disappointing 12th place finish, Nate Evans was declared

the 2001 Lake Moc-A-Tek Pure Stock champion.

The Sportsman feature was postponed due to curfew and will be made

up as part of the special Labor Day Monday card on September 3rd.

This Saturday night finds the Central New York Mini Sprints invading

Lake Moc-A-Tek for their first visit to the fast quarter mile in several

years. This will be one of the richest Mini Sprint events of the season

with $750 to win and $75 to take the green flag. The 250cc Micro

Sprints, Street Stocks, Pure Stocks, and Sportsman teams will also be in
