Kenny Tremont Wins At Devil's Bowl Speedway

Results for June 10, 2001

WEST HAVEN, Vt. - Ken Tremont Jr. charged into the lead on lap 15 and

went on to record his first victory of the season in the 30-lap modified

feature at Devil’s Bowl Speedway Sunday night. The win ended a long dry

spell for Tremont, who hadn’t won a race at Devil’s Bowl since the 1999

season.

But he had the Freihofer-sponsored no. 115 small block hooked up Sunday

night, finishing with a 1.6 second margin of victory over defending track

champion Tim Laduc. Dave Camara finished third, with Ray Hoard fourth and

Don Scarborough fifth. Butch Jelley finished sixth, but was later

disqualified for coming up 11 pounds light on the postrace weigh-in. That

moved J.R. Heffner, who had started deep in the field after failing to

qualify during his heat race, into the No. 6 position at the finish.

Camara, Don Mattison and Laduc won the heat races.

Pete Kimball drove to a surprisingly easy victory in the 20-lap

pro-street stock feature. The pro-street stock division usually has some of

the most hotly contested racing at the Bowl, but on Sunday night, Kimball,

who won four features during the 2000 season, pulled away from Carl Vladyka

and crossed the finish line with a 1.79 second margin of victory. Mike

Haines finished third, with Fred Little fourth and Ed Pieniazek fifth.

Chuck Knowlton outdueled Vince Santoro to get the victory in the hobby

stock main. John Donnelly came across the finish line third, with Lori Carey

fourth and Randy Alger fifth.

Chris Busta, one of the hottest drivers in the Champlain Valley Racing

Association, picked up the win in the cruiser division.

Devil’s Bowl Speedway will be back in action Sunday night with the

double point Spring Championships highlighting the Father’s Day activities.

All divisions will be in action, with racing starting at 7 p.m.
