Vince Quenneville Jr. Takes MODS at Devil's Bowl

WEST HAVEN, Vt. - Taking advantage of a second-row starting position, Vince

Quenneville Jr. led from flag to flag Sunday night to record his first

victory of the season in the 30-lap modified feature at Devil’s Bowl

Speedway. Jim Ryan, who started sixth, also went right to the front and had

a number of opportunities to take a run at Quenneville, because of five

caution flags, but Ryan had to settle for second.

Tim Leduc got up for third while Ken Tremont Jr., still plagued by a run

of bad luck on the Champlain Valley Racing Association, finished fourth, the

same spot in which he started. Bob Savoie came across the finish line fifth.

Dave Camara, who had won the first two regular shows at the Bowl, was

scheduled to start 11th in the feature, but damaged the motor in his small

block after qualifying in his heat race and had to borrow Sput Shaw’s car

for the feature. That put Camara last in the 20-car field, but he battled

his way back to finish seventh.

Fred Little had his two-race win streak stopped by Pete Kimball in the

20-lap pro-street stock feature. Woody Woods had the lead for the first

seven laps of that race, but Mike Bussino then used a restart on the eighth

lap to take over the top spot. Kimball, who had started fifth, moved into

second on the 12th lap and then rocketed past Bussino for the lead on the

16th lap. Little kept the heat on Kimball for the last four laps of the

feature, but Kimball came away with his first win of the year. Little

finished second, followed by Mike Paquin, Bussino and Matt Rich.

Donnie Williams charged from his ninth starting position to post his

first win of the season in the hobby stock feature. Williams got the lead on

lap 10 and then pulled away from David Patrick to win the 15-lap feature.

Robert Cole won the cruiser division feature while Joseph Sherwood was

victorious in the 50-lap enduro.

Devil’s Bowl will be in action twice over the 4th of July holiday. There

will be a regular show on Sunday, July 2, and the track will be holding a

special card, which will include a 100-lap feature for 358 modifieds, as

well as fireworks, on Tuesday, July 4. Racing on both nights will begin at

7 p.m.
