New faces appeared headed for victory lane in the modified division, but in the end it was Alan Johnson capturing his fourth feature of the win to maintain a six point lead over Billy Decker in the race for the track championship. Dale Plank, Chuck Bower,!

Jimmy Phelps, Tom Kinsella and Steve Hulsizer ran at the head of the class throughout the 35 lap main event. However, in the end it was Johnson taking the lead on the 27th lap with a spectacular high-low move as he passed both Jim Phelps and Bower in less !

At the checker it was Johnson, Fuller, Ward, Jim Phelps, Hulsizer, Bower, Decker, Plank, Bob Varin and Kinsella completing the top five. In victory lane Johnson said, "This was a good car high and low. The car ran excellent tonight, but we had to add more !

Rob Keller captured his second straight IMCA modified event as his car ran flawlessly. Brent Matzel was the early leader, but on the third lap Dick Weiland grabbed the advantage. Weiland lost the handle, but Matzel went back on top on the fifth circuit. W!

Boyce lost an oil line in his qualifying heat, made repairs, grabbed the lead in the main event and with a half lap to go shut the power off and coasted across the line for his third win of the season. Jim Coher and Ed Bell were one-two out of the chute. !

Meanwhile, eight time feature winner Troy Van Allen started deep in the field and moved toward the front. However, on the fifth lap Van Allen broke and the high point man was out of contention. Boyce took advantage of an eighth lap restart to grab the lead!

Lloyd Hinton bounced off the wall early in the race, but came back to capture his seventh of the year in the super stock four cylinder. It was John Clark with the early lead, but Harvey Calkins Jr. went on top on lap two. The red flag came out on the fou!
