TOM HINDLEY COLLECTS FIRST MODIFIED WIN AT ORANGE COUNTY

MIDDLETOWN, NY...Tom Hindley of Fair Oaks picked the best possible time to collect his first big block modified win at the Orange County Fair Speedway. Saturday Night Hindley aboard an Olsen car pushed from Gerry Higbie, led all the way from his outside starting spot to win the 30 lap Kensington Manor feature. besides collecting his first modified checkered flag. Hindley also pocketed the $1,000 bonus posted by Stanley Kolan of Kensington Manor for a total purse of $3,500. Finishing second and getting an additional $500 was Rich Eurich. Eurich earlier picked up $1,000 for his dash for Cash win aboard his brand new Teo-Pro car.

Completing the top five were Frank Jashembowski, winner of the first Kensington Manor $1,000 bonus night, who picked up an additional $200 from Kensington Manor, Rick Mill and Mike Ricci. By finishing 6th, Jeff Heotzler moved back into a tie for the division point lead with 7th finishing Danny Johnson. Hindley became the 11th driver in the 11 week season to take a modified checkered flag and the 6th first time winner at Orange County in 1997.

The 25 lap 358 Modified feature went to Mike Altamose of Reeders, Pa who won for the first time ever. Altamose, starting on the outside of the front row, held off a late race charge by Mike Petruska Jr, Andy Bachetti was third follwed by Johnson and Heotzler.

Jeff Hulseapple of Bloomingburg, NY won fort the first time this season in the 20 lap DIRT Sportsman feature. Stan Jablonka made a late race charge to take second ahead of John Ferrier, Greg Sleight, anf Jim Sorenson Jr.

The 12 lap Novice feature was claimed by Tom Cannizzaro of Stone Ridge, NY who finished in front of John Platania and Tom Kuck. Current point leader Mike Pomarico of Beacon, NY used a last lap restart to take his fifth Rookie Class10 lap main event this year. Dave Hoogerheyde and Paul Maiolo trailed.

Behind Eurich in the Modified Dash for Cash were Rick Mill, Carl Pittenger and Bruce Kline.

All division winners received the $1,000 bonus from Kensington Manor with 2nd place getting $500 and third place getting $200 in all classes as well. It was a big night with $10,300 added to the track purse and a fireworks display added at the end of the full card.
