ALAN JOHNSON VICTORIOUS IN RANSOMVILLE MODIFIED ACTION

RANSOMVILLE, NY..5/16/97 - ..Alan Johnson took control of the modified feature

about mid way and never looked back as took home the win in the Mike Maroney

owned mount by a full straight away over Pete Bicknell.

At the drop of the green, Mark Sylvies and Rick Hoctor swapped the lead

for the first lap until Sylvies took control. Scott Wood was looking strong as

he took second from Hoctor and moved in on the leader Sylvies. Hoctor, Cosgrove

and Kubiniec rounded out the top five.

Wood challenged Sylvies in the early going and took control for a while

before Sylvies took the top spot back. Cosgrove now ran third followed by

Kubiniec and Tim Murdoch.

By lap 12, Alan Johnson broke into the top five. He then moved in on

Cosgrove and Kubiniec, getting both the third. Cosgrove headed pitside with

mechanical problems.

A scarry moment was had by all as Robbie Krull took wild ride in turn

three, ending up against the guardrail up-side down. Krull was okay but his car

suffered major damage.

On the restart, Sylvies showed the way followed by Wood, Alan Johnson, Joe

Kubiniec and Tim Murdoch. Wood took the lead, dropping Sylvies to second. Alan

Johnson moved in on Sylvies and took over second as his brother, Danny Johnson,

lost a wheel in turn four and brought out a caution. Danny was unable to continue.

On the restart, Wood had the lead but Alan Johnson wanted it. Alan went to

work on Wood, taking over the lead. Bicknell was the next to make a move as he

picked his way through the top five to second. Alan Johnson had a full straight

away lead as the laps dwindled down.

At the checkered it was Alan Johnson at the line followed by Pete

Bicknell, Scott Wood, Mark Sylvies and Todd Burley.
