HORTON AND HOFFMAN ARE BIG WINNERS IN MODIFIED TWIN 20'S AT EAST WINDSOR SPEEDWAY ON FRIDAY NIGHT
EAST WINDSOR, N.J. ~ Two of the very best dirt track Modified stock car
drivers in the sport today, Jimmy Horton of Neshanic Station and Doug Hoffman
of Allentown, Pa., proved their talents once again on Friday night (April 27)
as they were winners in twin 20-lap races at the East Windsor Speedway.
Mark Bitner of Allentown raced his big-block powered car into the lead at
the outset of the first main, but Fred Dmuchowski of Neshanic Station pulled
to the front with five laps completed. Soon Dmuchowski and Wade Hendrickson
of Lawrenceville locked up in a fight for the lead as Horton closed in.
Horton's winning move then came on lap eight when he dove to the inside lane
and passed both competitors in the third and fourth turns.
Horton then raced on to the win, followed by Hoffman, Hendrickson,
Dmuchowski and Freehold's Eddie Bohn.
The second 20-lapper for the Modifieds was just as thrilling as Horton
and Hoffman fought for the lead most of the way, while former champ Kenny
Brightbill of Sinking Springs, Pa. Advanced from 19th on the starting grid to
join the war. Hoffman held off his foes in a 115 miles per hour battle for
his second win of the young season, while Horton, Brightbill, Bohn and Tim
Tanner, Jr. wrapped up the top five.
The 20-lap feature race for the Sportsman cars came down to a battle
between brothers as Ryan Godown beat his brother Brian to the finish line in
a thriller. Following the Godown brothers, who both hail from Ringoes, was
Richie Pratt, Jr. of Huftville, while Paul Marra and Jack Swain were fourth
and fifth.
Rob Ormsbee of Wall grabbed his first win of the season in a 15-lap race
for the Street Stocks. John Hewitt, former champs Dave Brymer and Kim Cooke,
and Billy Bauer completed the top five. The event saw a first turn tangle
that forced the car of Trenton's Craig Martin to overturn several times. He
was not injured.
The East Windsor Speedway returns to action this Friday evening (May 4)
with the Modifieds in the spotlight in a 25-lap main event. Sportsman racers
have a 20-lapper planned, while the Street Stocks will battle in a 15-lapper.
Friday night racing is slated weekly through September.

REGULAR SHOW WITH EXTRAORDINARY STARS SET FOR EAST WINDSOR SPEEDWAY THIS

EAST WINDSOR, N.J. ~ Some of the most heated dirt track stock car racing
found at any speedway will continue this Friday evening (May 4) at the East
Windsor Speedway when three racing divisions invade the half mile clay oval
speedway at 7:30 p.m.
Doug Hoffman of Allentown, Pa., a two-time feature winner already this
season, title contenders Jimmy Horton of Whitehouse Station,
Frenchtown's Billy Pauch and Kenny Brightbill of Sinking Spring, Pa.
will be among the drivers to watch in headline Modified 25-lap main event
action.
The Sportsman division will return for a 20-lap main event. Defending
champ Ryan Godown of Ringoes is always a threat, as are Art Liedl, Jr. of
Somerville, New Egypt's Jimmy Spence, John Romano of Englishtown and Buck
Ward of Trenton. Sportsman racers will run a consolation race, in addition to
heat races, to set a 26-car main event field.
Defending champ Al Cheney of Cranbury will be a favorite in the night's
Street Stock 15-lapper. Still, plenty of pressure will come from Lenny Riley
of North Brunswick, Kim Cooke of Hamilton, Billy Bauer of Flemington and Dave
Brymer of Titusville, just to name a few.
Weekly Friday night dirt track action is slated to continue through
September.
