Swartzlander Takes Sportsman's Mod 50
KNOX, PA — Brian Swartzlander outdueled some strong competitors, then held the lead as the race was called official due to time constraints to win Sunday's dirt Modified Shootout at Sportsman's Speedway.
The 50-lap event was shortened to 45 circuits when the time limit expired, with Swartzlander declared the winner.
Scott Gurdak, Josh Skarzenski, Dave Schrader and Swartzlander thrilled the crowd at the third-mile clay oval as they raced for top honors. Schrader was scored in second at the finish, followed by Skarzenski, Kevin Bolland and Jeff Schaefer.
Rick Lias won the Limited Late Model main event, besting Mike Steinle Jr. and Wendell Pynkney.
Darrell Bossard led the first nine laps of the Outlaw stock feature, only to be sidelined with mechanical problems. That opened the door for Joe Drusko, who went on to win.
