Short Wins Sat.

Storms may have been all around in the state of Delaware on Saturday night but the only storm at the Delaware International Speedway was "Stormin" Norman Short of Georgetown, DE.

Short held off Bobby Wilkins to take his first win of the season in the 25 lap in a Bryan Memorial Modified fea ture. Mike Covey of Seaford,

DE took command of the lead from his pole position at the drop of the green in the Modified main. The first cau- tion was out on lap three for Duane Rust. on the restart KennyPettyjohn took the lead from Covey with Ricky Johnson, Norman Short ad point leader Craig Mullins moving into the top five.

The yellow was quickly out again onlap five whenRobert Dutton stopped on the back- stretch. The restart saw Pettyjohn still on top with the top five the same except H. J. Bunting had moved by Short to take the fifth spot. Laps six, seven and eight each had cau- tions keeping the field tight. The eighth lap restart found Mullins moving into second behind Pettyjohn.

At the halfway sign Pettyjohn was holding off Mullins while Bobby Wilkins

moved by Bunting to take the fourth position. on the sixteen lap in the one-two turn Pettyjohn and Mullins went high racing for the lead. "Stormin" Norman saw his chance ad went low to take the lead. Mullins held onto second with Wilkins getting by Pettyjohn to take over third.

Short was tough and held the lead to take his first win of the season. Wilkins got by Mullins on the last lap to take second, Mullins was third with Pettyjohn and Bunting round ing out the top five. Sixth through tenth were Rick Bishop, Chad Marvel, Glenn Reed, Kelly Hastings and Scott Irwin. Pettyjohn and Johnson took the heat wins with Danny Klair taking the Cons. Short also received a $300 bonus from the Bryan family for his win.
