Hidden Valley Has Five New Winners
For immediate release June 4, 2022
Clearfield, Pa – Five drivers found the Carnes Equipment Winners Circle at Hidden Valley Speedway by DMS Motorsports on Saturday night for the first time this season, and they include: “Hot Rod” Rodney Phillips of Punxsutawney in the Semi Lates, Bob Garvey Jr. of Allport in the Small Block Modifieds, Fuzzy Fields of Brockway in the Street Stocks, Jake Wilber of Cuba, NY in the Amsoil Pure Stocks and Mike Phillipson of Ebensburg in the Craigs Welding Four Cylinders.
Rodney Phillips and Brandon DeBrakeleer brought the field to Jon Shipley’s green flag, as Phillips went into the lead and dropped DeBrakeleer to second with Justin Owens in third and Gary Little fourth. As the first laps were being completed a few cautions slowed the race. Once it got going Sixth place starter Ryan Jacoby was working the traffic and heading towards the front. By lap five he was up to third and on a lap five restart he moved past DeBrakeleer and into second, setting his sights on Phillips. Sitting through several cautions, Jacoby tried every trick he knew, without crashing the leader, but Phillips would open up a lead just enough to keep Jacoby in second. Phillips went on to get the win over Jacoby, DeBrakeleer, Little and Owens. Phillips and Jacoby split heat wins.
A smaller than expected Small Block Modified field didn’t keep Bob Garvey Jr. from getting the win, as the Allport driver took the lead at the start from fellow front row starter Hayden Holden and went on to this first HVS win of the season. Holden tried to catch Garvey but ran out of time. The finish was Garvey, Jr., Holden, Milton Owens and Trent Ogden. Holden won the heat.
Fuzzy Fields and Defending Street Stock Point Champion Chad Rougeux led the field to the start with Fields taking the lead and setting the pace. While leading, third place starter Todd English moved into second, dropping Rougeux to third. English tried to reel in the leader, but eventually lapped traffic separated the pair and allowed Fields to pick up his first win of the season at the bullring. English was second with Rougeux, Trevor McCann and Zach Gustafson completing the top five. Fields and Rougeux won the heats.
New comer Jake Wilber and Bob Holt filled the front row of the Amsoil Pure Stock field with Wilber taking the lead and setting the pace. As he led, rookie Tyler Rougeux was sitting second with Todd Coble and Ryan Jones third and fourth. Jones relieved Rougeux of second on lap six, then a lap later, Rougeux looped the car. This sent him to the rear, but the rookie driver was able to recover and finish fourth. As he worked his way through the field, Wilber was walking away with the win. At the finish it was Wilber over Jones, Holt, Rougeux and Noah Bloom. Wilber also won the heat.
The Craig’s Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinders saw Eric Luzier and Kevin Criswell on the front row with Criswell taking the lead and four place starter Mike Phillipson moving to second on lap 5. On lap six, Criswell crashed as Phillipson was battling him for the lead. The restart was Phillipson in command and the rest of the field chasing the Ebensburg driver. Several more cautions would slow the event as Luzier was trying to get by the leader, but had no luck as the
Checkered flag waved with Phillipson taking his first ever HVS win over, Allen Robison, Luzier, Tim Raup and Tyler Gill completed the top five. Heat wins went to Luzier, Criswell and Jim Ogden. The B-Main was won by Hunter Flook.
