Rougeux only new Hidden Valley Winner on Double Point Night

For immediate release June 18, 2022

Clearfield, PA – Chad Rougeux of Hyde picked up his first Street Stock feature of the season Saturday night at Hidden Valley Speedway by DMS Motorsports, making him the only new winner on the night.

Repeat winners included Gary Little of Clearfield in the Scaife Racing Supplies Semi Lates, Hayden Holden of Tiona in the Small Block Modifieds, Tim Steis of St. Mary’s in the Amsoil Pure Stocks and Wild Bill Hassenplug in the Craig’s Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinders.

Gary Little and George Bailey led the Semi Late Feature to Jon Shipley’s green flag, with Little taking the lead and fourth place starter Rodney Phillips moving into second. Three cautions in the first four laps slowed the feature, as Little still led and Phillips trailed.

Several times Phillips tried to get the lead, but Little was able to hold on, as Brandon DeBrakeleersat sat in third and Eric Luzier was fourth. The feature was going well and the top four were battling for position when the caution flew on lap 17, twice. As the three lap shootout went green, Phillips went high in turn four and he lost second giving second to DeBrakleer, then he went even higher in turn one, nearly collecting the wall, as Little went on to his second win of the season. DeBrakleer was second with Lucas, Jeff Weakland and Phillips completing the top five. Heat wins went to Little and Bailey.

The Small Block Modified field was short but the battle was exciting as young Hayden Holden continued to show his strength by beating Bob Garvey Jr. off the line and lead the race flag-to-flag, as the race for second was a hotly contested event. While Holden led, Garvey and Shannon Casher battled for second, swapping the spot several times throughout the race, and even several times a lap, buy when Shipley unferaled that checkered flag, it was 14-year-old Holden winning his second straight over Casher, Garvey, Trent Ogden and Milton Owens. The heat was won by Holden.

Defending Street Stock point champion Chad Rougeux and Michael Bordt sat on the front row at the start of the feature, with Rougeux taking the lead and setting the pace. He kept first Bordt at bay for 11 laps, before a caution slowed the race and Bordt pitted with a flat. On the restart, Rougeux held off the advances from Cregen Brady for his first win of the season. Brady was second, Bordt was third and Chad Desmett was fourth. Rougeux also won the heat.

The Amsoil Pure Stocks were led to the green by Tim Steis and Lester Hudson, with Steis taking the lead and newcomer Andrew Wallace in second. Wallace was trying everything he had to get by the leader, when he spun, bringing out a caution. The restart saw third place Ryan Jones in second and he was giving Steis all he could handle, as they exited turn two on lap 10, Jones was under Steis in the second turn, as he nearly took the lead, but Steis was determined to keep the top spot. As the checkered flag flew, it was Steis winning over Jones, Wallace, Bob Holt and Tyler Rougeux. The heat was won by Steis.

The Craig’s Welding and Fabrication Four Cylinders saw John Brown line up alongside Wild Bill Hassenplug with Hassenplug taking the lead and setting the pace. As Hassenplug set the pace, Brown was second with William Kephart third. As the non-stop event continued, there was a shake up at the front of the field, but behind leader Hassenplug, as Brown dropped out and Kephart was second, briefly, then he went high and everyone was jockeying for position, and when the checkered flag waved, with was Hassenplug winning over Tanner Ogden, Tim Raup, Ryan Lippert and Tyler Gill. Heat wins went to Brown, Hassenplug and Raup.
