TITTLE, DECKER, AND WILSON SHARE WE-GO SPOTLIGHT

SUSQUEHANNA, PA Cars, cars, and more cars filled the pits to above capacity on Friday at Penn Can Speedway as the drivers competed for extra honors on We-Go Racing Fan Club Night. 122 cars including, 59 modifieds, 48 street stocks, and 15 late models kept the grandstand full of people on their feet as the action was furious. When the checkers flew it was Butch Tittle ( Saylorsburg, PA), Randy Decker (Stevens Point, PA), and Scott Wilson (Gilbertsville, NY) taking winning honors.

In the modified feature the veteran Butch Tittle drove his Bob's Market "Z car" into the lead on lap five of the 25 lap event. Tittle drove a flawless race after being on top and won in a comfortable ride. The charger of the night had to be Dick Marcinko of Jessup, PA as he raced his modified hard all night from 21st starting spot up to a second place finish. Following Tittle and Marcinko were Ron Mawson (Pittston, PA), Dale Porreca (Greentown, PA), and Dick Sundgren (Endwell, NY).

For Tittle it marked his second win of the 1989 campaign at Penn Can Speedway. Tittle claimed an extra $50 for the win courtesy of the We-Go Racing Fan Club

The street stock feature turned out to be a shootout, not being decided until the final lap of the 20 lapped event. Mike Clapperton of Sidney Center, NY held the lead throughout the majority of the race with current point leader Randy Decker of Stevens Point, PA in pursuit. As the field took the white flag indicating one more racing lap the Clapperton car drifted one groove high and Decker filled the gap. The two champions raced side-by-side around the track with Decker edging Clapperton out at the flag by less than a car length. Ed Reddon (Jackson, PA), Rick Davis (Lawton, PA), and Rick Murphy (Tunkhannock, PA) rounded out the top five spots.

For Decker it was his seventh triumph of the season and he started Fridays race from 17th starting spot Randy also collected an extra $50 from the We-Go Racing Fan Club for his efforts.

In the late model ranks it was a new face in victory lane as Gilbertsville, NY driver Scott Wilson drove under the checkereds first. Wilson started the event in third position and wasted no time in taking the lead on lap one. Wilson maintained and won the event, his first career feature win. Following him across the line were Gary Roberts (Afton, NY), chuck Towner (Susquehanna, PA);, Bryce Williams

(Springville, PA), and Dan Burman (Maine, NY). Being his first career win it was a happy moment for the young Gilbertsville, NY driver and his win will be long remembered with a beautiful wall clock plaque presented by the We-Go Racing Fan Club along with an extra $50.

In the modified "B main" it was Jim Hughes of Pechville, PA over Dave Mead (Conklin, NY), and Joe Kanuik (Blakelee, PA).
