SAVOIE, ANDERSON & SWEET CAPTURE FONDA WINS
Fonda, N.Y... Bob Savoie of Broadalbin took the lead on lap number eight of the 30 lap modified feature and went on to win his first event of the 1995 season Saturday on Bellevue Builders Supply Night at Fonda Speedway. The 20 lap DIRT legal sportsman feature saw Bob Anderson of Delhi lead every lap and record his first win ever at Fonda Speedway. The 15 lap street stock feature saw Dick Sweet grab the lead on lap four and go on to record his first win of the 1995 season. The three division program saw 30 modifieds, 29 DIRT legal sportsman and 35 street stocks pack the pit area with the program completed at 11 pm. This coming Saturday night will find a special 6 pm starting time as the United Racing Club sprints will be into Fonda for their annual visit.
The 24 car starting field for the 15 lap street stock feature saw Jim Normyle and Dan Krajewski starting on the front row with Krajewski grabbing the lead and holding it for the first three laps before Dick Sweet, who started 7th, grabbed the lead. Sweet would survive some caution periods along with pressure from Rob Noviczski to record his first win of the 1995 season. Noviczski was second followed by Frank Guiffre third, Kenny Martin fourth and Phlan Hart completed the top five. Street stock heat wins went to Frank Guiffre, Dick Sweet and Phlan Hart with Kenny Gates winning the consi.
Bob Anderson of Delhi grabbed the lead from Craig Boehler at the start of the 24 car 20 lap DIRT legal sportsman feature. Anderson was able to survive some caution periods and the constant pressure of Ron Constantino to win his first career feature in the division at Fonda Speedway. Ron Constantino was second followed by Jeff Holt third, Doug Mosall fourth and Eric Arell fifth. Sportsman heat wins went to Jeff Holt, Tim Clemons and Bob Anderson with Drew Fallis winning the consi.
Twenty four cars started the 30 lap modified feature with Jimmy Bobar and Bob Savoie on the front row. Bobar immediately bolted into the lead and on lap two the yellow appeared putting Matt Waite, Dave Camara and Pat Ward into the pits. Only Camara would be able to continue. On lap seven, the yellow appears for Jimmy Bobar who sustained a flat tire and one lap later Jack Johnson and Dave Lape would retire pitside for the evening. The battle up front saw leader Savoie followed by Ron Proctor and John Kollar. At the halfway point, Bob Savoie has a comfortable lead over Ron Proctor, John Kollar, Jeff Trombley and Tony Pepicelli.
Tim Dwyer, who started 19th, was beginning to make his move to the front cracking the top five on lap 18. The feature was red flagged on lap 29 when John Proctor rolled his 352 in tums one and two with Savole still holding the lead. Dwyer was forced pitside with a flat tire. A one lap shootout saw Savole hold off Ron Proctor for his first win of 1995. Ron Proctor finished a great second followed by Jeff Trombley, John Kollar and last weeks winner Dave Camara.
