(Woodhull, NY) The sun finally shown brightly over the Woodhull Raceway for the first time in what felt like months. After two consecutive rain outs, on track action was finally able to commence. The Steuben county track honored our armed forces with free admission for veterans. The nights festivities were sponsored by Elkland Mosse Lodge, Welsh Well Drilling, and Trowbridge Construction and Excavation. Hot Dogs would also be on sale for just $1 courtesy of Lowery Family Farms. The Wicked Tees warriors would start the night. Cadin Thomas would take the early advantage, The yellow flag would fly after lap 1. The field would regroup but, Cadin Thomas would be the class of the field. He would end up leading all 10 laps to collect his first checkered flag of his young career. 2nd would go to Izzabella Morseman, and Courtney Thomas would come home 3rd. The next feature event to run was the Hometown Excavation crate sportsman. Todd Titus would lead the first circuit of the evening. Dale Welty would get around Titus to take over the top spot. Welty would lead the next four laps. However, the yellow flag would be shown and the field would bunch. On the restart, Kenny Peoples Jr. would make a power move from the fourth starting position going around three cars in turn two to take over the lead. Peoples would never look back from this point on and go on to collect checkered flag number two on the season. Cayden Lawson finished in the runner up spot. 3rd was Dale Welty. Todd Titus and Tony Harris would complete the top 5. The Southern Tier Customs RUSH crate late models would be the next class out. Former feature winner on the season, Brett Marlatt would start in the pole position. He would make himself tough to pass as he would end up with number two. Steve Lebarron tried just about everything he could think of but it would not matter as he would wind up in 2nd. Rich McNeal would finish in the 3rd position. 4th went to Brian Knowles. Marshall O’Brien would complete the top 5. The mighty Insinger Performance modifieds rolled onto the track surface for their 25 lap feature event. Early on, Brian Doolittle, would take the advantage and lead the first 9 laps. However, on lap 9 the caution flag would appear and Dayton Brewer would had been nipping at Doolittles heels would get a chance at a side by side restart. Brewer would make the most of this opportunity. He would jump out in front of Doolittle and become the new race leader. The caution flag would come out once again, and heartbreak would strike Brewer. Brewer was forced to go into the hot pit area with a flat tire. Carter Crooker would take over the top spot and his car was on a rail once it got out front. A late caution would bunch up the field but it would be for naught, as Carter Crooker would go on to pick up his first feature win in modified competition. Brady Fultz would finish in the 2nd spot. Aiden Grover would come home 3rd. Brian Doolittle ended up in the 4th position. Stacy Jackson would rebound nicely after being involved in a caution to complete the top 5. The IMCA modifieds were next out onto the track. Frequent yellows would plague the early portion of this feature event. Shawn Bruce would lead In the early going. Bruce would then have a mechanical failure that would send him to the back of the field and bring out a yellow flag. Jakub Ingham would then take over the top spot. He would hold that for a couple laps until long time street stock driver, Earl Zimmer, was able to get by and claim the top spot. However, heartbreak would again rear its ugly head. Something would break in the rear end of Zimmer’s car forcing him to retire. Ingham would take over the top spot once again. He would have his hands full trying to fend off Keith Lamphere. The hard charging Lamphere would eventually find his way around Ingham to take over the race lead. He would be able to hold off the competition for win number 2 on the year. Jakub Ingham would have to settle for 2nd. 3rd and 4th went to Jacob McConnell and James Lamphere. Jay McConnell would finish out the top 5. Ladd Rd. Auto hobby stocks were the next feature out. Jason Warner would lead the field to the green. He would get turned around in front of the field and take hard contact from Joe Birdsall. Scott Brown would take over the top spot. He would lead the first official lap of the feature event. Dillon Phillip would then get around Brown bringing Brandon Conklin along with him. Phillip and Conklin would go on to put on a show for the Woodhull faithful. Conklin threw just about everything he could at Phillip. Phillip was able to hold off Conklin for 17 and 3 quarters laps. Coming out of turn 4 to the checkered flag, Conklin finally got a run and would pick up a photo finish victory for his second win of 2025. Phillip would finish in 2nd. Joe Birdsall would rebound to finish in the 3rd spot. Scott Brown and Reese Hackett would complete the top 5. Wicked Tees Quad-C would be the next group to come out. Bradly Morseman would be behind the wheel of the stout 44 machine tonight, and he would take the early advantage. Caution lights on lap 4 would bunch the field back up, Nate Freeland would find a way around Morseman on lap 6. Caution lights would once again be called upon on lap 10. Blake Snyder would benefit from the regrouping. However, Freeland would be the class of the field and didn’t let Snyder get by. Freeland would pick up his first win of 2025, while Snyder had to finish for 2nd. Nick Brown would finish in spot number 3. 4th and 5th was Wesley Houghtaling and Trevor Putt. Congratulations to all competitors. Next weekend, June 14th, will see the return of autograph night after being previously rained out.
