JOHNSON SCORES BIG WIN IN ADVANCE AUTO PARTS SUPER DIRT 100

MYERS WINS ON LAST LAP IN LATE MODELS

Alan Johnson of Phelps, NY started seventh and took the lead from Steve Paine on the 24th lap and never looked back as he picked up the win in the 100-lap Advance Auto Parts DIRT modified feature. Once Johnson got to the front, he pulled away from the field and lapped all but eight cars in a dominating performance that earned him $6,000. Thursday night special event was postponed from March 26th.

"The car just couldn't have been any better, I just have to thank Robbie and the crew." said Johnson. "They just had the car perfect for me and all I had to do was drive it. The car worked up high, worked down low, it is a fun place to race."

Allen Brannon led the first 24 laps and looked like he would capture his second win of the season. But it was D.J. Myers of Greencastle, PA in front when it counted as he passed race long leader Brannon coming off the fourth turn on the final lap to win the 25-lap late model feature by a nose.

"We worked for that one," said Myers after collecting his first win of the year. "I went down into the corner and kept saying to myself use your hear, use your head. I just went in the turn straight, knew there was traction down low and knew Nathan (Durboraw) and Allen (Brannon) were over running themselves. I just went in there and got a good run on them. I can't say I knew I had them, but once Nathan moved to the top that's what I needed and it gave me the advantage on the bottom. And when we came off the fourth turn, I knew Allen would be high so I just came off as hard as I could."

Steve Paine grabbed the lead from the pole with Jamie Mills in pursuit. Jimmy Phelps and Frank Cozze moved into third and fourth as Johnson worked his way into the top five by the 11th lap. On lap 16, Phelps grabbed second from Mills as Johnson moved into third four laps later. Johnson took over second on lap 22 and two laps later on lap 24 grabbed the lead from Paine. The second and only caution of the race was waved on lap 53 putting the rest of the field on Johnson's bumper. But once the race resumed, Johnson pulled away and by the 65th lap was putting the slower cars a lap down. Pat Ward was able to close in on Johnson a couple of times in lapped traffic, but was never a serious contender as Johnson dominated the last 30 laps. Following Johnson were Ward, Matt Sheppard, Vic Coffey and Chad Brachmann. Paine, Gary Tomkins, Cozze, Justin Haers and Tom Sears finished out the top ten. Hea5t winners for the 29 cars were Jeff Strunk, Tim Fuller and Bret Hearn. Stewart Friesen won the consolation. Billy Decker set fast time and a new one-lap track record of 19.016 seconds.

Myers started 10th as Allan Brannon took the lead from the outside pole with Andy Anderson and Nathan Durboraw right behind. Myers worked his way into the top five by the sixth lap as he battled it out with Booper Bare. While Anderson and Durboraw fought hard for the runner-up spot, Brannon set the pace out in front. Anderson closed in on Brannon, but went high coming off the fourth turn on the 17th lap allowing Brannon to open up a 10-car length lead. On lap 19, Bare rolled to a stop to bring out the caution and on the restart, Anderson had mechanical problems to bring out another caution putting Durboraw and Myers on Brannon's bumper for the restart. Myers used the low groove to get by Durboraw on lap 23 and then went after Brannon. Just when it looked like Brannon would get the win, Myers came off the fourth turn low to pass Brannon at the finish line for the win. Durboraw settled for third with Gary Stuhler and Bo Feathers rounding out the top five. Frankie Plessinger came from 18th for sixth with D.J. Troutman, Devin Friese, Brian Booze and Sean Cosgrove finishing out the top ten. Heat winners for the 30 cars were Cosgrove, Stuhler and Ronnie Dehaven. Booze won the consolation.
