HARTNETT, WILLIAMSON AND MARTICCI EARN WINS AT GRANDVIEW SPEEDWAY

BECHTELSVILLE, PA June 12, 2005 . . . For the first time in almost five years Kevin Hartnett of Perkasie, PA was able to wheel the Berks Products sponsored, Dennis Bailey owned #81 Modified to victory in the 30-lap Scott Power Sports Night NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race at Grandview Speedway on Saturday night. And it was veteran sprint car racer Kramer Williamson of Palmyra, PA wheeling his own Pink Panther #73 sprint car to victory in the 25-lap Advance Auto Parts United Racing Club sprint car feature race.
Danny Erb charged to the front of the 29 car starting field when the green fell for the start of the 30-lap NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series Modified feature race. And for 24 laps it looked as if the Boyertown racer would be able to pick up his first career victory. However Kevin Hartnett was able to charge to the front of the feature field coming off turn four completing the 25th lap of the race.
Once in front Hartnett was able to win with a comfortable margin of victory over Danny Erb. The win was the first for Hartnett since July, 2000. Third spot went to current point leader Jeff Strunk (Bethel) coming from 15th starting spot. Fleetwood’s Kenny Gilmore came home fourth after challenging for the lead early in the race. Fifth was earned by Meme DeSantis of Temple, PA coming from 11th starting position.
An early race accident on the main straightaway eliminated a large number of cars with almost half the 29 car starting field involved. In fact at the end of the feature race only 14 modifieds were still running.
The 25-lap feature for the United Racing Club sprint cars saw Tim Hogue of Medford, NJ set the pace for 24 of the 25 laps looking as if he would be able to hold on for the win. A late race caution changed things giving Kramer Williamson a chance to close up on the fleet running Hogue and then in the second turn of the final lap Williamson was able to put his mount in front of the pack and ride to his second win of the season.
An excited Williamson, probably the elder statesman of the United Racing Club, came across like a NASCAR Nextel Cup race winner thanking all his sponsors, crew and others in victory lane for his winning effort.
Second spot went to Hogue followed by Trevor Lewis of Upper Black Eddy, PA, Dave Ely (Sinking Spring, PA) and Brian Seidel (Allentown, PA).
The 600 cc Modifieds, making their first appearance ever at Grandview, had Tom Marticci winning the 15 lap feature race. Tim Mineri grabbed a close second while Scott Washborn finished third.
Qualifying heat races for the NASCAR Modifieds, more than 50 on hand to try to qualify for the feature, went to Jeff Strunk, Danny Erb, Jon Kellner, Meme DeSantis and Kenny Gilmore. Consolation race wins were earned by Doug Manmiller, Brian Kressley and John Willman. The Cheers Tavern Cash Dash was won by Meme DeSantis.
In the sprint car racing action qualifying event wins were earned by Kevin Welsh, Tim Hogue and Josh Weller while the B-Main went to Kyle Purks.
Qualifying heat races for the 600cc Modifieds went to Chad Bealer and Tim Mineri.
Making his first visit to Grandview Speedway was former NASCAR Nextel Cup racer and now NASCAR executive Brett Bodine.
