LAURENT LADOUCEUR SCORES SECOND MODIFIED WIN AT EDELWEISS SPEEDWAY
Laurent Ladouceur took a serious lead in the mod driver’s standing Friday night at Edelweiss Speedway before another large crowd.
The Alexandria driver won his second feature of the young season by taking an early lead from Pat Cashman that he never relinquished. Dan Jalbert who experienced mechanical problems in the qualifying heat when his front left wheel took for pit lane before him and last year’s champion Pierre Dagenais were second and third respectively. The qualifying heats were a family affair when Laurent and son, Lee Ladouceur each won a leg of the preliminary races.
Ladouceur remains on top of the driver’s standing over his closest rivals Jalbert and Dagenais after the third week of activity at the Val des Monts oval.
In the pro Stock category, Michel Dupuis of Aylmer came from behind to capture his first Edelweiss win over last year’s champion Eric Gauvreau and last week’s winner Stephane Lebrun who settled for third best. Lebrun and Alain Coursol each had previously won a qualifying heat.
Dominic Gauvreau is unbeatable so far in the eight cylinders class. The Gatineau driver scored his third win in as many nights by crossing the finish line in front of Denis Hamel in second place and John McDonald who completed the fast three.
In the four cylinders class, Jacky St-Arnaud was on top of the twelve cars field when flagman Steve Salvas waived the checkered at the conclusion of the twelve laps affair. Carl Soucy, last week’s winner, was second and Rosco Gareau rounded out the top three. St-Arnaud and Soucy also won a leg of the qualifying heats.
