TIM McCREADIE BEATS WARD IN PHOTO FINISH ON PICK-N-PULL AUTO NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY…Tim McCreadie beat Pat Ward in a photo finish in the Pick-N-Pull Auto Parts DIRT Big Block Modified feature at Brewerton Speedway last Friday night. The talented duo swapped the lead back and forth on numerous occasions during the final 10 circuits. The 35-lap race was in doubt until the finish line where McCreadie won by two-one hundreds of a second over Ward. McCreadie’s first victory of the season was worth $1,700.

Ryan Bartlett raced out to the early lead at the start of the Pick-N-Pull Auto Parts DIRT Big Block Modified feature from the pole starting position. After five circuits Bartlett continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by Tony Buffa, Matt Sheppard, Tom Sears and McCreadie. Bartlett would lead the first 11 circuits before Sheppard was able to slip past.

Sheppard would lead through lap-17 when McCreadie took his first lead of the event. Sheppard came charging right back on the high side to lead the field on lap-18. At the halfway stage Ward, Buffa, Alan Johnson, Chuck Bower, Billy Decker, Frankie Caprara, Tim Fuller and Jimmy Phelps were following the lead duo of Sheppard and McCreadie in the top 10.

On lap 20 McCreadie was able to gain the advantage over Sheppard to take over the top spot. The race was far from over as Ward moved into second on lap 21. That set-up the tremendous finish of the race. Ward was the official race leader on laps 31 and 32. McCreadie led the 33rd circuit and Ward lap 34. The race was in doubt until the drop of the checkered flag, with McCreadie getting the win by just inches.

It was the first victory of the season for the Sweetner’s Plus Team at the D-shaped DIRT Demon. Ward had to settle for a crowd-pleasing second place finish. Alan Johnson made his patented lat race charge to finish third. Billy Decker and Sheppard completed the top five feature finishers in the highly competitive field.

Sean Lias won his fifth IMCA Modified feature race of the season last Friday night. Rich Keller, Pat Pontello, Gregg Kimball and Dale Caswell followed Lias across the finish line on this occasion. Lias passed Keller on the fourth circuit and would lead the rest of the way in the 20-lap event.

Joe Garafolo won his first Dwarf Car feature of the season last Friday night. Darren Forbes, Rob Garafolo, John Behron and Scott Nash crossed the finish line in positions second through fifth respectively. Joe Garafolo passed his brother Rob for the lead on lap six and led the rest of the distance in the 20-lap event.

Chuck Powelczyk won his fifth feature of the season last Friday in the Four Cylinder Stock ranks. Darik Van Epps, Lorrie Herbert, Russ Wassner and John West completed the top five feature finishers behind Powelczyk. Lorrie Herbert won the first eight laps of the main event. Powelczyk passed Herbert on lap nine and led the rest of the distance of the 15-lap affair.

Don Trent was the winner of the 25-lap ARDC Midget feature race. Trent passed Ray Bull on the lap 23 restart and led the rest of the way. Mark Dailey, Fred Cornell, Kathy Kurtz and Scott Lawrence completed the top five feature finishers behind Trent.

Racing will continue this Friday at Brewerton Speedway with the DIRT Big Block Modifieds, IMCA Modifieds, Dwarf Cars, Four Cylinder Stocks and Four Cylinder Enduro racers all in action on Coors Light Night. Race time is set for 7:30 p.m. The IMCA Modifieds will compete in the Dean Hubbs Memorial Race. On line information is available at www.brewertonspeedway.com.
