DECKER WINS THIRD OF THE SEASON ON KINNEY DRUG STORES/COCA-COLA NIGHT
BREWERTON, NY...Billy Decker continued his late season charge at Brewerton Speedway last Friday on Kinney Drug Stores/Coca-Cola Night. Decker claimed his third 35 lap feature win out of the last four events in convincing fashion once again. The win for the Adam Ross Cut Stone DIRT Modified team was worth $1,700. Decker also increased his point lead in the season long standings over Alan Johnson.
Ryan Bartlett raced out to the early lead at the start of the Kinney Drugs/Coca-Cola DIRT Modified feature from the outside pole starting position. After five laps Bartlett continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by Pat Ward, Jim Burke, Chuck Bower and Jim Larock. Bartlett would lead the opening eight laps of the main event.
Ward took the lead away from Bartlett on lap nine.The veteran Ward, was finally able to take the top spot away from the youngster Bartlett, after several laps of trying. Ward would lead the talented field through lap 16. It was on lap 17 when Decker took the top spot away from Ward. Decker moved up through the field steadily from the 15th starting position.
At the halfway point of the main event Decker was being followed in the top five by Scott Prentice, Ward, Bower and Tim Fuller. Tim McCreadie, Jimmy Phelps, Alan Johnson, Bartlett and Larock raced in positions sixth through tenth at the halfway stage. Bower moved into secod place on lap 28 and quickly closed in on Decker.
In the final laps Bower was able to close in on Decker, but he never made it past. Decker, Bower, Tim McCreadie, Prentice and Fuller completed the top five feature finishers. Ward, Phelps, Johnson, Frankie Caprara and Chris Kokosa finished the Kinney Drugs/Coca-Cola feature in positions sxith through tenth respectively.
Bob Bradt returned to the winners circle at the conclusion of the 20 lap IMCA Modified feature. Bradt was followed across the finish line by Tony Buffa, Sean Lias, Mike Jeffries and Brian House. Bradt took the lead away from Jeffries on lap six and led the rest of the distance.
Tony Buffa won his tenth Dwarf Car feature race last Friday night. Troy VanAllen, Darren Forbes, Barry Virts and Wayne Younglove completed the top five finishers behind Buffa. Buffa took the lead away from VanAllen on lap 19 and held on for the win in the 20 lap main event.
Chris Smith won his third Four Cylinder Super Stock feature race last Friday night. Smith won out over Todd Williamson, Harvey Calkins Jr., Brian Evenden and Dave Myrto. Smith took the lead away from Myrto on lap five and led the rest of the way in the 15 lap contest.
BREWERTON NOTES---The final Family Autograph Night of the season was a tremendous success...Bob McCreadie attracted the longest line throughout the autograph session...The entire race program, including the hour autograph session was completed in three and a half hours...Fans were treated to numerous giveaways throughout the night including Kinney Drugs racing hats and Coca-Cola Racing posters...Action continues this Friday at Brewerton Speedway with the Jim House Memorial twin 20 lap features races for IMCA Modifieds.
