DECKER RETURNS TO THE WINNERS CIRCLE ON TEAM SERVICE CORPORATION NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY…Billy Decker continued his late season mastery of Brewerton Speedway last Friday on Team Service Corporation Night. Decker claimed his fourth feature win of the 2001 season in the Adam Ross Cut Stone DIRT Modified. After the victory, all Decker has to do this week to claim the DIRT Modified Track title is to start the main event.

Jimmy Phelps raced out to the early lead at the start of the Team Service Corporation DIRT Modified feature from the sixth starting position. Phelps only led the first circuit before Chris Kokosa took the top spot away. Kokosa would lead through lap eight. It was on lap nine when Phelps regained the lead from Kokosa. Phelps and Kokosa battled side by side for the lead for several circuits.

Phelps led the field for numerous trips around the D-shaped DIRT Demon up until lap 17. One lap later Decker took the lead away Phelps. At the halfway mark Decker and Phelps were being followed in the top five by Tim McCreadie, Scott Prentice and Alan Johnson. Tim Fuller, Chuck Bower, Jeremie Corcoran, Frankie Caprara and John Lutes raced in positions sixth through tenth at the halfway stage.

In the closing laps Decker had the field covered on the way to his fourth victory of the season. Johnson had to settle for second with Tim McCreadie, Prentice and Bower completing the top five feature finishers. Fuller, Phelps, Pat Ward, Kokosa and Caprara crossed the finish line in positions sixth through tenth respectively.

Tom Ralph led the opening circuit of the main event. Tony Finch took the lead away from Ralph on lap two. Finch led through lap seven before Bradt took command. Bradt would lead the rest of the way in the 20-lap affair.

Tod Simons won his first Dwarf Car feature of the season last Friday night. Simons held off the challenge of Troy VanAllen in the final laps to record the popular win. Bob Magner, Barry Virts and Dan Boyce completed the top five feature finishers behind Simons and VanAllen. Simons took the lead away from Boyce on lap three and led the rest of the distance in the 20-lap affair.
