DECKER CLAIMS VICTORIA 200 GUARANTEED STARTING SPOT WITH WIN ON BURDICK SERVICE CAREER NIGHT

BREWERTON, NY…Brewerton Speedway 2001 DIRT Modified Track Champion Billy Decker claimed his fifth feature win of the season last Friday on Burdick Service Career Night. Decker earned $1,700 for the 35-lap victory along with a guaranteed starting position in the 16th annual Dynomax Victoria 200 that will be held at Fulton Speedway on September 29.

Decker raced out to the early lead at the start of the DIRT Modified feature from the pole starting position. After five laps Decker continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by Tim McCreadie, Chuck Hebing, Chuck Bower and Pat Ward. McCreadie continued to pressure Decker for the lead, but the veteran continued to hold the upper hand.

At the halfway mark Decker continued to lead and was being followed in the top five by Tim McCreadie, Bob McCreadie, Hebing and Jimmy Phelps. Pat Ward, Tim Fuller, Ryan Bartlett, Scott Prentice and Bower raced in positions sixth through tenth respectively at the halfway point.

Throughout the last half of the race Decker held off all challengers for the victory. The win gives the driver of the Adam Ross Cut Stone DIRT Modified a guaranteed starting position in the 16th annual Dynomax Victoria 200 at Fulton Speedway. Tim McCreadie had to settle for second. Fuller worked up from the 17th starting position to finish third. Bob McCreadie finished fourth and Bower came back after a tire change to finish fifth.

Tod Simons was the winner of the 35-lap Dwarf Car New York State Championship race. It was the second straight victory for Simons. Barry Virts, Bob Garafolo, Joe Garafolo and Steve Miller completed the top five feature finishers behind Simons. Bob Magner lost the lead on lap 29 after tangling with a lapped car. That gave Simons the lead, which he held until the finish.

Brian Evenden claimed the win in the 20-lap Four Cylinder Stock New York State Championship race in a photo finish over Chris Smith. The lead duo was followed across the finish line by 2001 Track Champion Harvey Calkins Jr., Lloyd Hinton and Bob Whipple. Evenden edged Smith in what was the best feature of the evening.
