Iles Cleans House - Wins Heat, Feature and the Bandit Bonus
BRIDGEPORT, NJ (July 24, 2005)- Mike Iles of Medford, NJ, had a memorable night this past Saturday. Iles picked up wins in his heat race, the feature event and the $1400 Bandit Bonus as Irwin Tools presented Gibbstown/Paulsboro Night at the Bridgeport Speedway.
"I really have to thank my guys for this one, they worked so hard. We didn't get this car back until Thursday," Iles said of the Dirt Wheels machine that was destroyed in an accident two weeks prior. "I was ready to run the back-up car and they told me we'd get this one back together."
Iles took full advantage of a third place starting position grabbing the lead from pole sitter Tom Hager and never looking back. Iles lead every lap of the caution free 9 minute and 53 second Modified Feature in his Active Environmental Technologies/Larkin Auto Service/Dirt Wheels machine, pulling almost a full straight-a-way over second place runner Tom Hager. Hager settled for second, Tommy Beamer came home third, Gary Hager finished fourth and Jim Stong wrapped up the top five.
JD3Graphics Young Gun, Jimmy Horton IV picked up his first career victory on Saturday. John Lozorak led the initial 17 laps of the Sportsman feature with Horton, and Point Leader John Pursell right on his bumper. When Lozorak approached a lapped car exiting turn 4, Horton of Folsom, NJ made a bold three-wide move to the outside grabbing the lead entering into turn 1. Pursell came home second with Ron Roberts in third, Steve Lozorak settled for fourth and Richie Pratt crossed the line fifth billowing heavy smoke.
Ringoes, NJ's Jeff Mueller picked up his first Jasper Sprint Victory in three years walking away from John and Jim Wyers, who finished second and third respectively. Tim Iulg came home fourth with Bill Jackson finishing fifth.
Bill Miller, of Vineland, NJ, did the unthinkable in the Outlaw Stock Division, Miller picked up the victory, ending Pat Conaway's 11 race win streak and stopping Conaway from breaking the current win record held by Ryan Kerr. Miller picked up a $100 bounty for his efforts, as well as, an additional $60 offered by Conaway Racing. Rich Reider came home second, with Pat Conaway in third, Joe Trumbetti in fourth and Gary Klimgczak coming home fifth.
