Doug Hoffman stays out of trouble and claims victory in Hooters Restaurant Modified event at Bridgeport Speedway.

Doug Hoffman of Allentown PA had few challenges during the 35-lap Hooters Restaurant Big Block Modified event on Saturday June 26, 2004. He survived a handful of multi-car pileups to claim his 3rd feature victory of the 2004 season. Hoffman gained the top spot on lap 13 as he took the inside line to overcome pole sitter Phil Vasquez. The two raced neck and neck for several laps. Jamie Mills, who had a strong car, and recent feature winner Rick Laubach got caught in a ten car tangle on the front back stretch in the early laps. A tough battle between the 12 car of Mike Franz and the heavily damaged car of “Jammin” Jamie Mills brought out the yellow as neither driver attempted to lift out of the corner of turn 3. Both drivers would recover from the spin to finish in the top ten. Steve Durand, Mark Forte, and John Townsend all had career best finishes coming in 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. Durand came to life onlap 29 to take the second spot from Wade Hendrickson who suffered from mechanical problems late in the race. The top five finishers were: Doug Hoffman, Steve Durand, Mark Forte, Jamie Mills, and John Townsend.

Saturday June 26, 2004- Jim Wyers collects 1st Jasper Sprint Feature win of his career at Bridgeport Speedway.

Jim Wyers from Steelmantown NJ earned his first feature win of his Jasper Sprint career this past Saturday night at Bridgeport Speedway. After a stint with the URC last season, Wyers joined the Jasper series in 2004, the move obviously paying off with a dominating win in the 25 lap event. Wyers led every lap of the Jasper Sprint feature and didn’t give anyone else a solid shot at the lead. Bridgeport fans watched 14 laps of fast and furious racing until the first caution came out when Chip Brown and Steve Schmidt spun out in turn 1. Steve Fleetwood charged through the pack stealing fifth position from Mark Bitner on Lap 15.Bitner and Fleetwood would battle for the remainder of the race as Bitner finished 4th while Fleetwood settled for 6th. Wyers became the fourth different winner in victory lane in the Jasper Sprint Division, joining fellow competitors Steve Schmidt, Mark Bitner, and Jim Bewley. Rounding out the top five finishers for the night: Jim Wyers, Bob Rasmussen, Joe Thuet, Mark Bitner, and John Wyers.
