O Brien Dominates as Small Blocks take top four spots at Brockville
BROCKVILLE-A large crowd on Fan Appreciation and Car Load night witnessed one of the most dominating performances ever in the history of Brockville Ontario Speedway. Danny O Brien of Kingston laid a beating on the field lapping all but the top 4 cars taking his first win of the season at the Beast of the East. It was the second victory already this season by a small block Modified in the new combined class.
O Brien blasted through the field in the early going of the 30 lap event that went from green to checkered. He was a half lap ahead of second place finisher Bryan Rogers at the finish. Mike Adderley and Jeff Sykes were third and fourth respectively as small blocks took the top 4 spots and were the only cars on the same lap as O Brien at the finish. Ryan Bartlett rounded out the top five.
Randy Earl led all 20 laps in counting his first win this season in the Sportsman division. Marcel Pecore was close to Earl through most of the race but never really theatened the Brockville driver. Kyle Dingwall continued his championship chase with a third place finish in the family back up machine, followed by Ben Tucker and Lance Willix.
Charles Barkley also found himself in the victory circle for the first time in 2004. Barkley retinherited the top spot after Shane Ray had a flat tire then fought off a determined challenge from Ronnie Wadforth to grab the win in a fairly clean 20 lap Street Stock event. Wayne Holmes, Dana Aikens and Peter Stapper finished third through fifth.
Bob Ray grabbed the 12 lap Rookie event passing second place finisher Brad Kirkland after a mid race restart. Dave Blue was third in front of Joseph Banks and Steve Smith. Brockville Ontario Speedway returns to action on Friday night, July 2nd with a full race program beginning at 7:30 pm. The go karts also return to action this Wednesday night at 7pm.
