Paine scores second Modified win of year at Brockville
BROCKVILLE-Steve Paine admitted that his car was pushing like a truck in the heats on Friday night at Brockville Ontario Speedway. However, by feature time it was a rocket as the Hurricane drove to his second win of the season in the 30 lap Modified feature.
Paine wasted no time in charging to the front of the field with some nifty early moves including going 3 wide at one point going into turn 3. The Waterloo, NY driver then withstood a mid race challenge from Pat O Brien before pulling away in the late going. O Brien was forced to settle for second, followed across the line by Mike Adderley in a small block, Danny O Brien and Bryan Rogers.
Lance Willix brought his new TEO chassis to the Beast of the East and left everyone in the 20 lap Sportsman event shaking in their boots. Willix methodically chopped and diced his way through the field finally taking the top spot in the final 5 laps in the race that went from green to checkered. Marcel Pecore was second in front of the Dingwall brothers, Cole and Kyle and Ben Tucker.
Dana Aikens became a three time feature winner taking the 20 lap Street Stock main event. Aikens survived numerous early on track incidents for the victory over Dave Wilgosh. Billy Code, Harvey Arquette and Jack Code rounded out the fast five. Billy Woodward Jr in his own car after having to borrow rides the past few weeks won the 12 lap Rookie event which featured the largest field of the season. Woodward Jr was handed the top spot when Dave Blue and Martin Walter came together in turn 2 with 3 laps remaining. Bob Ray settled for second after a spirited late charge, followed by Josh Venn in his first appearance at the BOS, Matthieu Aubin and Blue.
The Midstate Vintage Stock Car Club paid their annual visit to Brockville on Friday night as well with Clay McNamee taking the honours in the 70's class, Pat Sonnenberg in the 60's and Brad Litzenberger tops in the 50's. Brockville Ontario Speedway returns to action on Tuesday night, June 22nd with the Coca Cola 100, the third event of this years Turning Stone Casino Super DIRT series for small block Modifieds. Time trails go at 6:30 with racing at 7:30 pm. The Rookies will run a special 30 lap feature and the Street Stocks will also be in action.
